Greetings. Deb is going to put a sticky on this thread and eventually delete the other.

This is the thread where members come to share their journey to wellness and wholeness.

It's a holistic thread, talking about all apects of health, not just diet and exercise, but the mind and spirit as well. All posters are welcome (not just Premium Members) and encouraged on a periodic basis to share what you're doing, what you need to do and how you're going to do it, and what you know!

LOL!

Have a great day too, all! :balloons:

Zoe,

well, heck go for it. I was thinking you could purchase a short-term membership to a gym to try various pieces of equipment. Then you would know what you like before you make the big purchase. But, that's just me. I have a friend who would rather try things out in her home and doesn't mind the return shipping. As long as you don't mind the shipping thing then Sarah's idea sounds like the best way to go. Keep us posted.

I have the opposite problem - I can be totally good on the food (like now, filled the house up with healthy food so I have no choice!), but I am terrible at getting exercise done. I go to bed with great intentions and set the alarm, but the snooze button is so much more appealing than my shoes in the mornings...

Hi Augigi,

I have that problem too. I guess it is just one day at a time. I am trying different times of the day to walk too. Tonight I walked with a friend, that definitely helped.

I'm still working on the food thing. I'm glad that one is easier for you; because, it isn't good to eat, look like a house, and only demolish one "wall" with the walking :uhoh21: .

Wow, this has turned into a busy place - how awesome!!!

Gentle, I think you are right, probably worrying less about the food and more about the exercise would help immensely. I'm nutty I think because I really enjoy exercising, it's just the getting started part that gets to me. I need to quit dinking around and just do it. I do really good for about a week and then I fizzle, so if I quit fizzeling, I would feel so much better. Hmm - this is giving me motivation - think I will go for a walk on my lunch break. :)

Augigi, I know just what you mean about that snooze button . . . it is my best friend. :imbar:

Tweety - glad you're walking the critters - dogs are so good for that. Yours are italian greyhounds, right? They are so full of energy, I used to have one, a girl, she was a blast! :D

Zoe, I have never tried the gazelle, but they have always interested me. I agree, if you can find a spot to give one a try, go for it. Otherwise maybe you can find a place that allows you a 30 day home trial or something when you purchase it, at least that way if you hate it you can return it.

Everyone, have a great day!

Well Sarah,

I'm beginning to think perhaps you and Tweety have the better idea on this one. Hmmm, maybe it is not too good for me to eat like a pig, look like a house, and demolish only one "wall" of the house with exercise :uhoh21: .

I know restraint is a good thing. I just seem to be choosing the laziness with this one. Oh well, I'll keep trying.

Hi Conehead and Raindreamer,

It's nice to meet you. I'm sorry about your mom conehead. I hope you will give yourself time to heal abit then try the smoking cessation thing again. Are there grieving groups where you live to help with the grieving part? What about smoking cessation groups? Are there any people to reach out to for this too?

Raindreamer, I like Hormel's nitrite/nitrate free turkey. I don't buy it too often because it's pricey but, my family will eat it. I hope you start to feel better soon.

Tweety,

Where are you? Are your babies really greyhounds? Do you walk them, or do they walk you? I thought greyhounds were bred for running. I hope your day is going well.

What do you have for dogs Tweety?

They are Italian Greyhounds. We walk nearly every day, but on days I work I keep it short. But it's better than nothing.

Yep, you gotta love those intentions. But intentions are the first step. :)

Well, I'm so lazy I don't like to chew FOOD.

Now THAT is really lazy. :lol2:

Ok so I was all psyched up to start eating healthier and exercising. But then I've been sick the last couple of days.

Feeling a bit better, but not totally 100%. I'm excited to start on this healthy living thing .......

Hi Rain!!! Sorry to hear that you're sick. Keep up the good work!

Hi

I am new to this thread but have found that listening to relaxation music when I am getting stressed out and the first thing I want to do is eat has helped me. I have a major depressive order and get anxious very easily. Unfortunately if I could only stop smoking. I stopped for three years and then my Mother died and a cigarette was the first thing I reached for.

Music is my lifeforce! Nice to meet you. I hope that you post often!

I'm around! They are Italian Greyhounds, or minitures, they are 12 and 11 pounds each and they definately walk me, but I can control them easily. I should have some pictures in my gallery if you're really curious. :)

Well, however I do it gentle I am not often likely to continue :( God knows I don't need another coat rack in my house! lol!

the "You can do it" is Tony's trademark saying LOL - it's funny the way he says it (especially in the Geico Insurance commercial, ha ha!)

How are you doing today?

Hi all!!! Welcome Conehead - so sorry about your mother's passing, don't give up on the smoking cessation though, you can do it!

Rain, so sorry to hear you have been sick, hope you feel better soon and can keep away from the yucky stuff now.

Zoe - thanks for the laughter quotes - love it!

Gentle - I think anything to get you through the holidays is a good thing, this is a hard time of year for dieting.

Tweety - I think that having the dogs to walk is a great thing. Any walking is better than none and they get you out and moving, even if it's not for a long time. Besides, Iggy's have so much love to give. :)

Hey there to everyone else!

Have a great weekend y'all - I am taking tomorrow off to take my little boy (age 4) to see a movie. He has been super good at pre-school for 3 weeks and I promised him something special, so that's our plan. Talk to y'all Monday!

Thanks everyone for the get well wishes :)

I'm feeling a bit better, but didn't sleep well today because I still had a fever off and on. So I called off for work tonight. I hate doing that but I'm sort of a baby when it comes to working while sick .... I know a lot of people do, but I just can't.

Gentle - Nice to meet you too. Thanks for the turkey recommendation ..... I'll have to check that out. Is that healthier than regular processed turkey?

Sarah - You have a 4 year old? Awwwww, I love that age! What movie did you go see with him? Have a great weekend.

Sometimes it's best to take an extra day, even if it is partly a mental health day - NO GUILT!

Hi Tweety,

your furry babies are cute. (Your neice is cutier, though;) .)

That said, my nephew is a Yorkshire Terrier. His name is Chu-Chu:lol2: . I really like that piece of fur. He is soooo cute. He loves to cuddle and go for "short" walks. Although, when we visit, we no longer get to see him for long periods of time. Our boys finished stressing out the poor thing on one visit, and he ended up with diarrhea. We paid for his 3-4 day hospitalization of course, and the x-rays (we were missing a few crayons), and his little iv fluids.

No he didn't eat the crayons. He ate the scrambled eggs and spaghetti. Not good for a dog.

No, none of our neighbors, friends, or enemies wanted us to pet sit after hearing that story.
