Greetings. Deb is going to put a sticky on this thread and eventually delete the other.
This is the thread where members come to share their journey to wellness and wholeness.
It's a holistic thread, talking about all apects of health, not just diet and exercise, but the mind and spirit as well. All posters are welcome (not just Premium Members) and encouraged on a periodic basis to share what you're doing, what you need to do and how you're going to do it, and what you know!
I found a great hot class, on the north side of town, but it's all interstate and not much traffic on a Sunday. We did these poses twice http://www.bikramyoga.es/images/las_posturas.jpg in a room 100-105 degrees and it was awesome (the last pose is a breathing exercise). I forgot how much I loved that series. It was $15 which was steep, but if I buy 10 classes it's on $10 apiece which is pretty much the going rate.
Stevia is a natural herb that is extremely sweet. The only place I've ever seen it is in the health food store, but I've never tried it. I like Splenda myself and use it in my oatmeal, but not much else.
Angie, one has to read the ingredients when buying instant teas. The only ingredient should be "green tea leaves". The Japanese call it "matcha" and powdered teas are used in their tea ceremonies. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matcha
Hi Zoe. I'm glad you're among the employed. I work 3 12-hour shifts a week, which is all I can handle with work and the other things I like to do. :)
You know, I just rummaged around in the cabinet and found some interesting stuff that I completely forgot I bought! I have some Stash Wild Raspberry Tea, which has hibiscus flowers, rose hips, orange peel, lemongrass, licorice powder, citric acid and natural raspberry flavor.
Earl Grey double bergamot black tea, 100% natural ingredients.
Twinings Earl Grey Tea with tea and bergamot flavoring.
Then I found some Good Earth Jasmine Green Tea blend. It has only Green Tea, Jasmine flowers and natural flavors.
So what's bergamot, anyway?
I love Splenda, thanks zoe. I've never heard of Stevia. Is that a sugar derivative or some new concoction?Tweety, I didn't know there were instant Asian teas. I think I have some Jasmine tea around here somewhere. I like it better than green tea. It's probably a lot cheaper than cola too. :)
Hi Angie!
I was just wondering if Splenda causes any adverse effects. I was told by one person that it was made from sugar so therefore it IS sugar and should not be used by diabetics or hypoglycemics. I remember too reading that Splenda is processed using chlorine!

Now re: stevia, I had heard it was made from fiber. I looked it up and apparently it is a natural plant that is incredibly sweet. The FDA has had a hard time approving it but it is available in health food stores (my step mom swears by it).

Bottom line? Nothin is good for ya! LOL! Pass the Krispy Kremes!
Ack! It hurts! :chuckle
Today, after 2 weeks of "putting it off", and making excuses such as "I need tos tudy for the NCLEX" etc. --- I returned to my workout.
Boy! Does it hurt now :uhoh21:
I barely managed to run two miles!
I couldn't even do a complete shoulder workout with weights - sheesh!
Good news is that I've lost the 6 lbs and I've managed to keep it off (despite ocassional splurges at Hardees. I've been craving a steak for quite a while now and those ads for TGIF on TV DON'T HELP ).
Yep - I started weight loss at 156.9 lbs - I've been at 150.4 for the past couple days.
Lets hope it's working and I only see more changes - DOWNward
Geez Roy, I weigh more than you. (153)
I can run 3 miles with no problem though. :wink2:
I used to run 6 . .. .
I was bad today - ate nachos at lunch and a bagel with pepper jack cheese for breakfast. I'm eating fresh veggie stir fry for dinner though.
I like splenda in my coffee and on my cereal.
steph
Welcome back Roy. Congrats on recommitting yourself and maintaining the weight loss. Sheesh I was 180 lb. Which is about 5 pounds more than when I finished my diet earlier this year.
Welcome back to thread Steph. Hope you return often. The stir fry sounds good.
I was good and worked out yesterday after deciding to take the day off. I ate fairly decent too.
Today is a workday for me, so wish me luck with that. Work is my downfall.

Good luck!
I had eggs and toast yesterday morning, then did a full morning's worth of phone calls, fell asleep at around 1100 and slept till 2100!! Boy, did I need that!
So about 0130 at work, I had a piece of chicken breast, a little mashed potatoes, and some squash. The veggies were pretty sad looking, but sometimes you just want something hot, KWIM?
It's official: the cold is OVER! Yay! Three cheers for my immune system; I didn't have to go on antibiotics and it didn't go into my chest (as it did to a couple of smokers I know ).
PS Roy, don't feel bad, I can't even run around the block any more, and I used to run every day (MANY years ago!)
And Stevie, how was your stir-fry?
Zoe, I wish Krispy Kreme was good for you. The other night a patient's family brought us a couple dozen, but I just ........ stepped away......from....the ....box........
and I didn't look back.

Ha ha ha
Good for you!
We don't have Krispy Kreme here, actually. We have Dunkin Donuts and those are rarely tempting.
I have heard RAVES about the Krispy Kremes though! And at an airport this past June they had some. They weren't that great (tho I suppose by the time they get to the airport they leave a lot to be desired).
In any case, CONGRATULATIONS!
