Greetings. Deb is going to put a sticky on this thread and eventually delete the other.
This is the thread where members come to share their journey to wellness and wholeness.
It's a holistic thread, talking about all apects of health, not just diet and exercise, but the mind and spirit as well. All posters are welcome (not just Premium Members) and encouraged on a periodic basis to share what you're doing, what you need to do and how you're going to do it, and what you know!
Had dinner at an Italian place, too much bread. But I was good and went to the gym this AM and at well otherwise.
Angie, trust me, this yoga, especially the hot yoga, is too physical to put you asleep, but for the relaxation phase at the end. I know what you mean about the cost. The hot yoga classes are much more expensive, so I might have to ditch that idea.
I did OK, considering. No candy, no goodies (unless you count a Hall's sugarless cough drop), kept away from the butter, kicked the ice cream craving (my throat's very sore, but getting better).
I think I need to drink more water today; I had a couple Diet sodas because it felt so good on my throat.
It'll get better.
Good deal Angie - hope you are feeling better now. I am glad you are avoiding the junk food.
Tweety - good for you for taking a day off & then jumping right back on the wagon - I am a believer that you have to take a break from the diet regimine when necessary.
I am doing pretty good - both yesterday and the day before I have been faithful with my salads. Salad at all the snacks in my office is keeping me nice and full so I'm not hungry when I get home and then I don't eat the junk food either. I had . . . you guessed it . . . a great big salad for lunch! I was so proud of myself because a co-worker and I went out and she had the dreaded (but yummy-looking) frito-pie and I managed to not give in to temptation and stick with a chef salad - yummy! :)
Have a great weekend everybody - enjoy the holiday if you get it - I am headed to clinicals this weekend - yeay!!!
Sarah, I'm so glad you're sticking to the plan. It's so hard to do sometimes. I find that having a grapefruit really kills the desire for something sweet.
I have no idea why, except that maybe it's like brushing your teeth, the toothpaste is so strong it kinda ruins your taste buds for something else?
Tweety, enjoy your pizza in (dare I say this? in light of your new Board duties) ....moderation.
Also, I'd like to run this past you, I've heard a lot about not drinking pop, even diet pop, lately, and I've cut down quite a bit on that. But what about flavored waters? Sometimes just plain water doesn't quite cut it for me. Or should I put a piece of lemon in there and let it go at that?
Angie, I do know lemon water is good for you. I think it's good for the liver and adds some Vitamin C. I'm not familiar with flavored water, but they are probably better than sodas if they don't have a lot of additives and preservatives. I would look for one as natural as possible. Do you like tea? Fresh brewed ice tea has antioxidants and if it's not too strong, not a lot of caffeine. I found some instant green tea in the Asian store that is pure green tea and I have that in fridge for drinking.
Zoe, it's good to hear from you. You sound great. It's a workday today. Hopefully I can resist the stress eating which I've been doing lately and stick to my healthy lunch I packed. :)
(edit: apparently I am responding to an old old OLD post of yours Tweety! Sorry! anyway...)
xo - thanks!
I started a job Aug 18 (I think it was) I was pretty sedentary before then and gaining wt - now I think some is coming off. Plus I am more disciplined about eating the right stuff and as OFTEN as I should so I don't get those random cravings (starvation just leads to snacking on stuff I shouldn't).
Are you doing 12 hr shifts? I used to do them and did fine - now I am only working 5 days a week/4 hr days, and my feet and legs are killing me! Spoiled I guess! I got some good shoes but they are not helping much. Concrete floors!

I've heard horrid things about aspartame. What about Splenda, any probs with that? Stevia is supposed to be good but I don't dare try it, it sounds weird LOL

I know what you mean about the gas prices Angie - they are crazy here too! About the same for the 85 octane.
I am so glad you are good about the yoga Tweety, I admire your persistance.
Well, today I had a big 'ol salad for lunch and another one at snack. :) I am so proud of myself, someone made a nice, fresh chocolate cake and I managed to completely avoid it. I had . . . you guessed it . . . salad instead. Hehe. I will eat some meat tonight for protein. I am so glad I feel like I am back on track and I feel like I can stick with it this time (again - hehe) - my mind is made up that it is time to get back on track and I am ready! Here's to a healthy fall/winter!!! WooHoo!
