I am excited about getting my "accessories" together. I have started buying some things:-

-Penlight

-White Shoes (leather) bought 2 pairs, might buy one more...

-Ordering my Stethoscope and Sphygomomanometer ( still shopping around, not sure which one to get) Any ideas?

-Got my Vaccinations together, need to schedule a complete Physical, once I get a list of all requirements.

Would like to know what you all got!

Don't wait till the last minute on the physical if it requires bloodwork. I have orientation on the 20th and we have to get HCT levels. Well dumb me goes to a walk in clinic this past saturday. Yeah they don't do HCT and I have to wait till monday. Then I won't get my results till after the 20th. Well that won't work- as we need all our info together to attend oreintation. So I had to go to the ER and get lab orders through the hospital. 75 bucks later - I'm praying that the clinical recieved my labs so they can sign off on my physical. I guess that's what I get for procrastinating!:banghead: Sorry a little vent there! I already have my sphygomomanometer - I just got a basic black one from a medical supply store. It was like 20 dollars. I used it for my CNA course and it was fine. I'm waiting on other stuff till after orientation. I won't get my scrubs till closer to fall cause I'm trying to get into better shape before fall. Good luck.

I called my high school for my childhood vaccination records (I graduated in 1988 and they had them! Somehow mine was one of the few from the 80's that were not destroyed!!!)

I am waiting on the nursing department to tell us which PDA they want us to buy and therefore which software we need for it)

We order our uniforms on the 21st of August at orientation.

I need to figure out which stethoscope and such I want....decisions decisions!

I am going to go pick out some white shoes and the other stuff soon!

I can't wait to have all of my stuff together!!

I don't have my checklist of what I need yet, I'll be receiving that by the end of May. I do have two stethoscopes, I have some friends that gave me a congratulatory gift when I got accepted to NS...they gave me two nice medical dictionaries (a large one and a pocket size) and two stethoscopes. She couldn't decided if I should have black or pink, so she got me both!

My school hasn't given me a list or details of what I will need. I can't wait to start buying stuff.

I am currently (my mom actually) searching for my immunization records. I've never seen them before in my life. My mom might have to call the place where I got them done when I was a child for the records. Then I need to get a physical and shots.

Csantos you are always so prepared.

I'm thinking I will start looking for a pda. It isn't required or anything at my school, but I want one.

I've gotten my stethoscope (Master Classic) and ordered my uniforms (we order them through the school) and am about to start on the book list. A few of the books that they require us to get are such new editions that they don't come out til June or July so I will have to wait on those but I will be checking Half.com for the rest of them very soon!! :)

I haven't had my orientation yet, and that will probably not be until August. I am not buying anything until I know what they want me to have. I already have a good deal of the equipment and scrubs from my "previous life" but anticipate the school having specific requirements.

I do want one of those "smart pens" though.

It has been a zoo trying to get all my physical appt, immunity/vaccine info, getting titers drawn (none of which my rotten insurance will cover - and I actually got many of the childhood diseases because we didn't have vaccines for them back then) TB tests (we need 2!!!) drug screen, background check. It is like a full time job just checking everything off my list and driving all over the place.

TIP - Do NOT wait to make an appt for your physical - this is summer camp, travel and sports season. When I called my family doc, I was told there were no appts available before my deadline date! They are booked 6 weeks out! I must have freaked out to just the right level because suddenly one came available when I told her it was for nursing school. I still might end up going to one of those convenient clinics, since they are often cheaper. But at least I got a late date appt on the calendar.

We have orientation on friday and that's when we'll learn about what uniforms and books and stuff to get. Cant wait!!! :D

Already have an awesome stethoscope and a ton of BP cuffs from EMT and MA school. We had to hand in our background check a week after we got accepted. Just waiting for my physical next month!

My fiance bought my sprgue steth (pink) for our anniversary when I was "sweating bullets waiting for an acceptance letter" LOL I was like OHH NOO you jinxed me. Now I get to choose between 3 schools (Woot woot)

Im looking for a really cute pen light, and a really cute watch..A really cute bookbag on wheels, I know those are going to be necessary but tomorrow I find out what I need.

Can someone tell me what a PDA would be used for in NS?

I've seen it mentioned here several times now... when I was in NS the first time (1995-1997) that certainly was not a necessity!
