Has anyone tried the new Dansko XP?

Published

Wondering if anyone has tried these? They look like the regular professional Dansko line, but there is a very soft removable liner that provides a very cushiony feel. The hardness of the Professional line was what I didn't like, so I am wondering if these are as good as they claim!

I LOVE my XPs. I needed the slip resistant soles for my waitressing job and was having issues with back, hip, and knee pain from sketchers. Within the first 2 hours of my first shift in the XPs, my pain was dramatically reduced. I wear them anytime I know I'm going to be on my feet for a long time so I'm not hurting the next day. I have the plain black leather ones and they took about a week or two to really break in. They've been worth every penny. I haven't replaced my inserts yet (about a year of wear on them) but I will before I start my program in June.

I bought the XPs as my first pair of Danskos, and after about a week and a half they are so comfortable and I'm finally standing up straight and don't have sore feet at the end of the day! As a comparison when I bought them I tried on a regular Dansko on one foot and an XP on the other and the difference in arch support and overall comfort was huge.

I just bought my first pair of Danskos and I picked the XPs. I spent a long time walking around the store (hell I walked around the entire mall! lol) in both the pros and the XPs. I personally found the XPs to be much more comfortable, I definitely preferred the softer insole. I tried to break them in in small amounts last week and wore them for my first shift on the floor on weds night. I brought extra tennis shoes in case I couldn't make it through the night in the danskos but I loved them. I started to have a little pain around 4-5am but nothing crazy and my feet felt great when I got home and got them off. Usually, once my feet start to hurt they continue to ache even after taking off my shoes and rubbing my feet. I think I was just suffering from a little pressure from the XPs because it was gone immediately after taking them off. Hopefully a few more wears will stretch the area that's hurting me, if not I'll take them to a shoe store to have that little spot stretched out (it's by the outside of my pinkie toe).

Overall I would definitely recommend the XPs. I think they are great! :-)

the xp's are awesome awesome imo i love mine

I loved the XP's over the regular ones. The extra cushioning really helped.

Hmmm is the footbed similar to those of Alegria shoes?

I loved my Danskos. After wearing them for a long time I noticed that I started getting knee pain...I know Danskos were supposed to help with that. Maybe it was the firm footbed or something. Or maybe it's because I wore the same pair of shoes for three nights in a row instead of rotating pairs like you should. Once that knee pain started, I went with Alegria shoes. I think the extra cushioning on their memory foam footbed really helped and I love them, but I still want to give Danskos another whirl. I may try the XPs.

It sounds like the footbeds might be similar. I want to say that the XPs have a dense foam footbed that's removable. There's some give/squish to it, but not a ton. Not sure if you're familiar w/ open vs closed cell foam, but I would say they're closed cell foam. (Open cell allows air out as it's compressed - think a kitchen sponge - while closed doesn't allow air out of the cell - kinda like a pool noodle or foam roller. OK...padding material lesson over.)

I bought my first pair of danskos the xp line, they are really comfortable and help with my lower back until a few hours go by and then my arches ache and I think it's because I haven't broken them in yet/ not used to them? Does anyone have a suggestion on how to break them in faster?

Lol thank you for the explanation. I caved in and bought a pair of the XPs. The Alegria footbeds have more squish to them than the XP footbeds, but I do prefer the XP footbed compared to the original Dansko one. I wore the XPs around in a store for awhile, walking around to get a feel for them. I switched back and forth between the XP and the original Professional and the XPs are more comfortable. I decided to give them a try. I think switching between the XP and my Alegria shoes will be better instead of wearing the same pair for three nights in a row.

I'm excited to go back to work on Sunday so I can try out my new Dansko XPs! lol :D

Wear them around the house. If you decide to break them in at work, wear them for a few hours each time and switch to another pair of shoes you are used to. Gradually increase the amount of wear time with your Danskos as you do it. I hear the XPs have a shorter break-in period compared to The Professional. It took me about a month to get used to The Professionals.

Thanks I will try wearing them around the house more, I think I'm just being impatient lol. I've tried them at work a few times I think I just need to get used to them I've never had any before ;)
