In all my years of working in healthcare (almost 40), I have never seen anything more insulting and pathetic. I hope Kaiser gets publicly flogged for this.

While working on the CD unit, I was giving a lecture and was discussing adipose tissue. "Once your body makes a fat cell", I said, "it never goes away. The fat cell can be decreased in size, but it doesn't go away, unless you have something done like liposuction".
"In fact", I went on, "when I worked in Surgery, I would sometimes assist the Doctor by suctioning blood from the area so the Surgeon had a clear view".
I once had an employer that gave out gift cards for Christmas. This would be followed by a memo asking for them back so they could be donated to charity. Pathetic.
Same at my hospital but get this...after years of giving these out (and begging for them back) my employer determined they were “taxable” so they started taking the applicable tax out of our pay! So now even if you donate them you also have to pay the taxes. WTH?! ??

Your employer didn't decide that, our wonderful Federal government did. I mean, they deserve their share, too, right? ?
That may be true but if you donate it it’s done before they even distribute them so basically you get taxed for something you never even had and it’s such a small amount it isn’t worth claiming as a deduction. They used to give us very nice gifts (picnic blankets, golf umbrellas, etc) but those have gone the way of the dodo. ?

I hear ya. I got hand sanitizer this year. A bottle that is suspiciously the same brand the clinic uses ?
I got one of those once at a funeral as a "party favor". The card is embedded with seeds and you just plant it and up pops flowers or whatever the seeds were.
