To all you fellow Emergency Nurses, I thought I'd wish you a Happy Emergency Nurses Day and week.
It seems as though my hospital has forgotten us, and chooses instead to inform us that we need to increase our ratio to 9 patients per nurse now that 1/4 of the staff has left or cut down their hours. Also, a new incentive program has been established where a $100.00 bonus is to be given upon the completion of 5 incident reports on fellow staff.
What a thoughtful way to celebrate all the hard work we do :angryfire
So, what has your hospital done to celebrate Emergency Nurses Day/Week?
It would be nice to hear that there are better places out there than the pit I am in now.

You have got to be kidding me!!! I've never worked in the hospital other than clinicals, so call me naive if you want, but your hospital is encouraging employees to write others up? :argue:
I wish I was kidding! Yes, they are rewarding 5 write-ups with a $100.00 savings bond. What is even worse, is that a few of the select staff have already started spying for those write-ups. Management never mentioned if it has to be a true incident. Oh, I forgot to mention that our health system has an immense amount of travelers; and, they are not included in this new incentive program.
Now, the games begin :smiley_ab........
So Machiavellian

We received donuts tonight and from another hospitals ER! Such a pleasant surprise and wonderful since we spent most of the evening on diversion and had no time to eat anything else!
Happy Emergency Nurses Day everyone!

My ED provided everyone with a meal and cake. My ED ROCKS!!! I can't imagine working in a department that is so negative they are rewarding write ups with savings bonds. No wonder they are having to use traveling nurses.

Our ER got tote bags and a pocket planner. The bags were paid for by the department "employee recognition fund" which we all pay into on a voluntary basis. The planners came from our physician group.
But I have to say, the five write-ups = $$$$$ takes the cake, I'm suprised they haven't instituted that here?!?!.
Oh wait, if they did that, our budget would go belly up..writing people up in my department is already the great national pastime!!
But area agencies and drug reps have been buying us lunch all week and that has been WONDERFUL. I'm just disheartened that it is all outside sources saying "Thank You" and not really so much from our actual hospital!
:rotfl::rollFunny!! But I did forget to mention: Happy ER nurses day! :balloons:

Does it count if you write yourself up? I totally would do that.
"B. O'Myacin, RN did not offer patient in Rm.1 Apple juice with his CT prep. Orange juice was given instead."
"B. O'Myacin, RN asked if she could get the patient in Rm. 1 anything else, but she did not say that she "HAD THE TIME" "
