I live in East Texas, but not getting much bad weather. The storm seems to be staying off to the North and not making that Westward turn they had anticipated, which is good news for us here.
They cancelled my school and clinicals. Area schools are still going today.
So far, it is just dreary outside and drizzling/raining on and of all day.
Thank you all for prayers and let's continue to pray for the other areas this storm has hit and may hit.

Happy to see that it was not as bad as anticipated and that all is well with most of our allnurse crew thus far!

I'm in North Central Texas. Although I'm very much inland by several hundred miles, the weather has been windy, humid, warm, and intermittently raining. Therefore, the hurricane has been having a distant effect on the weather patterns here.

I live in the Mobile Alabama area. We made it through with no damages to our home. But, lots and lots of rain!

Do any of the nurses working in private hospitals get hazard pay as something extra to their paychecks for working in this type of "prone" area or at least some sort of "medical retirement" benefit to help them out when they make to retire like the police, military and paid firefighters do??????? Or were only the goverment sponsored hospitals the only ones really open????

Well, I hope the worst is over! We didn't get too much damage, just trees and such. And I am really surprised we didn't lose power. I took some pics of some of the damage and posted them on the break room, in case anyone was curious. The only injury on our street - my rose bushes won't ever be the same! One big surprise was a huge tree that was uprooted and landed right on top of a minivan. He walked away without a scratch. Amazing!!
We have 3 dogs, 1 inside weinie dog, and 2 yard dogs. The outside dogs have tried to convert themselves into inside dogs also. Don't even want to go outside to potty eithout an umbrella. Talk about ROTTEN, but they are my babies!!

I'm from New Orleans, 70124 to be exact (we were flooded by the infamous 17th street canal during Katrina)
We evacuated to Alexandria, LA.
A neighbor a block over from me stayed in NOLA with backup generators and said we had power as of this morning but just called (approx 1/2 hr ago) and said we lost power again. I tried to call my landline and the answering machine didn't pick up so thats a sign we have no electricity.
We were planning on coming home tomorrow, but with knowledge that we have no power.. it's pointless.

I live in Northeast Louisiana, we are still getting the rain and wind. Some people are having to sand bag their houses and I saw one vehicle with a tree on top of it. But if flooding is all we get it will be a blessing. We haven't had running water all day, there is a busted main line somewhere and there is too much flooding for them to find it. My thoughts and prayers are with all of those from south Louisiana and the other areas Gustav hit.

Hello everyone,
I live in Slidell, La and evacuated to Birmingham on Sun. I am back now and staying in a hotel in Picayune because I still do not have power, I live in a remote area on the bayou.
Thanks to all who posted concerns, said prayers etc.
Ya'll are wonderful, you helped me so much after Katrina and I don't know what I would have done without this website.
I will return to work tonight. Our pts were evacuted to Bogalusa, La on Fri. (LTAC). They are back in Slidell now, so its time to go back. I am very ready to return.
Don't know how long without power at my house. They are working very hard to get it on.
Picayune is about 30 miles outside Slidell. I lived here after Katrina, in a trailer for 2 years. Moved in my current home last year.
I am so glad that it was not worse. I think God was listening to you, thanks again.
Will keep you updated. :redbeathe
