I know it is a bit soon, but anyone living in those areas, please post occasionally and let us know how you all are doing!

I doubt anyone down there will post... considering there are now tornado warnings and the news said most places have no power.
I know, but I hope that eventually, some can log on, see the thread and update us. Just remembering the last time with Katrina makes me sick to my stomach. I just hope everyone is okay, and not just meaning allnurses members, but everyone.

i'm well north of nola, but we are getting thousands of refugees. (we're along the evacuation path).
so far, everything is going ok. my hospital has gotten a few patients, and so far has had the capacity to take care of them.
all is going as planned, so far.

I am a student nurse at UTTyler and UT has opened a special needs shelter. We are glad to be able to help. After the chaos of getting every one checked in and assessed, it has calmed down alot. As of last night we were worried about possible flooding here and having to move everyone to another shelter. Hope that does not happen.

I am from South Louisiana and still have family there. I just got a message from my MIL in Baton Rouge saying they are having some pretty rough weather....one tree down in the yard so far...but they are ok. I am assuming the power is out since I can't get an answer on the home phone...and I can't get a cell call through due to "all circuits busy". Obviously she was able to get a call out to me though...sorry I missed it. My family in Houma went North to the Monroe area...so no word on the conditions there yet.

Hello - I live in West Monroe, and all the shelters are full. I still have my disaster box stocked after Katrina, but went to pick up a few things. The dollar stores and grocery stores are PACKED. Batteries are going like hotcakes, and right not it's just raining and high winds.

We're just getting rain and some wind here . Mobile is about 60 miles south and they've had flooding in some areas. LA , Texas, and some of Mississippi are getting the worst of it. I just hope everyone can come through safely. I really don't think we could bear another Katrina.

hoping things are okay
I am happy to get responses this early on. I am unable to pry myself from the television to hear what is happening, and I am joyful that you guys and/or family members are safe, thus far. May we all send positive and safe energy to everyone during this time and hope that the crisis abates itself. My heart and soul cannot take another Katrina. Keep on posting folks. It does my heart good!

Northwest LA here, just wind and expecting rain. The weather says 6-10 inches but as fast as it's moving, maybe just a good soaking. Keeping my fingers crossed because not only will my house flood, but our entire neighborhood will flood. Just pray for slow rain.
UPDATE: Tornado watch area is one parish over (according to the weather channel). Just wait and see
