... my resident eating her own poop.
The first time I witnessed that in my short cna career. It was all over her face, her hair, bedsheets, nightgown, diaper and left hand. She was sucking her fingers like she had just finshed eating some fried chicken.
Can you imagine living in a world where you strongly believe that you poop out chocolate??
Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, delicioso!!!!!

You're telling me you girls don't do this, i just finished my breakfast serving.
I thought it was inappropriate as well. That poor woman isn't in her right mind. I have to wonder at the professionalism of a CNA who stands there and not only watches her eat it, but lick her fingers as well. Why didn't you intervene?I'm not an uptight "Debbie Downer." But I am someone who expects members of the health care team to treat people with respect. Instead of watching her, you should have stopped her and cleaned her. She deserves much better from you than what she got.
Thank you for posting!

Haha. You just described my first day on the job as a CNA. The resident was off in another part of the building, and when we found her, it was smeared all over her face,teeth,clothes,etc.. Then again, I worked at an alzheimer's facility. Trust me, it won't be the last time you'll see it. And it won't even be the grossest thing either. Welcome to nursing:cool:

You really shouldn't be so quick to judge others. As I walked into the room, I saw stuff her fingers in her mouth. How do you know that I didn't intervene? I cleaned off her fingers, mouth and her face, etc. In the mddle of doing this, my nurse came into the room for her daily med pass, I reported the incident to the nurse. I take my job seriously, I am not unproffesonal. I did not mention the resident's name on this thread, nor the whereabouts of my employment. I am not at fault because the resident deided to eat her poop.
I dont understand the point of your thread, other than to make fun of this poor woman. How sad.
The point of my thread was to simply express an incident that I witnessed today at work. I was not making fun of the resident. I am not here to bully anyone. I was making light of a situation that occured at work. Somedays, you just have to laugh at this kind of stuff. And hopefully anonymously on a website in the company of other CNA's.
