Grrr - MCCDNP Wait list

Published

Hi all!

So the MCCDNP site says "Spring capacities choice change options should become available late in September."

Well, I called today to see when they are expecting to release the choice options because it's already getting pretty late in September - they told me late OCTOBER! :banghead:

Pushing back the date and picking 2 months before nursing school starts seems a little unprepared and unorganized to me.

I got in with my second choice. I had been on the wait list since the latter part of June 2007. Back then, way more prereqs were required. I hope you get in with the deferral rounds AZSamantha.

It was frustrating to wait so long, and nice to learn that I got in. I agree with comments that one should complete coreqs and other classes (e.g., pathophysiology, and classes for a BSN if you don't already have them) while waiting.

I also think it's a good idea to work in healthcare if you can - the money is terrible, but the experience is very helpful.

Might be a good time to take a pathophysiology class.

Here's another thing to ponder for us Oct stampers.... We are technically still in the 9-12 month box, with a total of 463 people. There are 40+126 people in the 15-18 month and 12-15 month boxes. So, 166 people waiting for defferments, before they get to us that are on the top of the 463 9-12 month heap. I'm pretty sure that if we do get picked, it will be last minute. A friend who started SCC this fall got the placement call less than 2 weeks before classes started because someone gave up their seat last minute. Dang, I gotta quick looking at this, I'm starting to get pretty frustrated..... grrrrr!

I'm just wondering how you find out if you got in or not. Is it by the site? If so what should it say? Or is it by a letter or phone call?

Thanks!

I believe that when you go to the maricopa site and log in to the application status it should tell you if you've been placed. They will also send you a packet in the mail with all the info...and I'm not sure if they call you or not.

I am in the Oct. 22 app. group w/timestamp 8:01 am and I won't get my hopes up for spring... right now I am just hoping to get in for fall '09! This wait is horrible...

Hey faith77,

I heard that they notify you via email and mail. Also, you can check your status at http://www.nursing.maricopa.edu Click on Application Status and then type in your student ID (usually your social).

I was rather upset about that too. I think I had Scottsdale as my third pick. As soon as I saw that it had gone down to 10, I switched it. I hope you at least get into something, if not your top picks.

I also am an employee at scottsdale healthcare and wonder if anyone thinks it would be faster for me to get in at SCC? or if I wait on the list with everyone for all schools and make different choices? Any input?

This waiting is awful!!!

Hi all I got in today with my second choice Mesa CC. My timestamp was mid june 07...I was definitely happy to see that I got in, waiting this long has not been easy and I have been discouraged plenty of times! I totally agree with people who are saying take all your co reqs while waiting! Esp. pathophysiology. Also if you've been waiting since Oct 07 I think you may have a chance still, but thats only been a year and I unfortunately think everyone is waiting longer than that (me 1.5yrs by the time I start and 1.5-2 depending on your choices they told me when I got on the list)...but still good luck to everyone!!

So, Anyone who got in SCC want to trade with me? :nurse:

If you go through Scottsdale Healthcare and try to get into SCC, you will get in significantly faster than those of us who aren't employees.

For example, they took the SCC accelerated program away from the public (which had 50 openings) and only allowed Scottsdale Healthcare employees that option.

I'm kicking myself for not picking MCC as one of my choices

But, congrats on getting in!
