Grrr - MCCDNP Wait list

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

Hi all!

So the MCCDNP site says "Spring capacities choice change options should become available late in September."

Well, I called today to see when they are expecting to release the choice options because it's already getting pretty late in September - they told me late OCTOBER! :banghead:

Pushing back the date and picking 2 months before nursing school starts seems a little unprepared and unorganized to me.

Thanks Sweetsmuckers....I was a bit unsure at first if that was true or not. I'm a bit more hopeful for the spring now:monkeydance:

They are running placement right now... good luck to all.

Sooo placements are done for today..... looks like the latest person had a timestamp of 8:00:09. from oct 22 :(

Well then... I again have lost out and am stuck in my miserable job for 9 more months. :hlk:

When do they run placements for the fall?

When do they run placements for the fall?

Hi BoogsDad,

I believe they start the fall placements in the beginning-middle of march

They actually don't have a set date or time period when they make these runs (spring and fall). All of the programs nursing departments have to get them all the info first (how many slots, how many programs, etc).

Then there are the cohorts and partnerships... all that data has to be taken into account also.

MCC just coordinates all this data and the subsequent placements.

I learned all of this in the conversation I had with them a few weeks ago.

Also, the partnership spots are still out there... so don't completely give up hope yet. These little two week runs are only for 10-15 spots caused by deferrals. Hopefully we'll get a good percentage of those hospital seats back in the placement pool.

I appreciate that, but I need to be realistic here- not negative mind you... realistic.

If I am thinking correctly, since the last slot was October 22nd, 2008 @ 08:00:09 and my date/timestamp is October 22nd, 2008 @ 08:03:02, while considering that a person= 1 second of time, that puts oh... something like 173 slots ahead of me... there aren't that many partnership slots. Furthermore, with the economy the way it is, isn't there talk of less programs within MCCCD? There might be less seats. Again, just being real with myself here.

HEy Boogsdad I feel your agony....Im not sure if there is actually 1person per second because if that were the case then I wouldn't even be in the 9-12 month group, I'm stamped for 8:05:31 am and I know I'm in that 9-12 month group. I have a friend who turned her application in a December provisional week last year so I know that our 9-12 month group has alot of 2007 December applications too.

Hang in there we will all get there if not now than at least we know it's less than a year.

How did you find out you are in that group?

Boogs,

Yes, it is true that one applicant equals one second... but all of the applicants are not standing in one line. Actually, to follow the "standing in line" analogy":

There are 13 lines (# of programs we can choose from)... and any one applicant (timestamp) can stand in up to 5 of them (# of choices permitted).

So let's say you are # 173 on "the list". If the 172 applicants before you picked exactly the same 5 choices as you (highly improbable), then yes, you would be in one line and not have a shot. But youre standing in 5 lines, not one.

- In line one, you may be in 27th place in the Phoenix College Accelerated line.

- In line two, you may be in 2nd place in the Gateway 4 Semester line.

-In line three, you may be in 170th place in the Scottsdale line... and so on.

Only to an extent, does it matter how far back you are... however, what does matter is the "popularity" of your 5 choices to the applicants ahead of you.

It's enough to drive you crazy thinking about... just keep "choosing" the most open programs. Are they the most popular?... isn't everyone using that strategy?... probably, but you have to aim for the highest point of the bell curve.

I mean, really, what else can you do?

I found out I was in that group from an advisor. They told me I was in that group but they wouldn't tell me where, but I kinda knew they wouldn't anyways.

I think I'm still confused about the 1 second per person thing:smackingf..lol

Oh well, we will all get in sooner or later..I guess I'll just keep working and save up more money till then. I just cant imagine another 8 months at my job:uhoh3:
