Grrr - MCCDNP Wait list

Hi all!

So the MCCDNP site says "Spring capacities choice change options should become available late in September."

Well, I called today to see when they are expecting to release the choice options because it's already getting pretty late in September - they told me late OCTOBER!

Pushing back the date and picking 2 months before nursing school starts seems a little unprepared and unorganized to me.

hey guys just wondering if anyone got in with the 2nd placement yesterday? just curious to see what timestamps are getting in- I wish you all still waiting good luck with future runs...And also if there's anyone who is in the nursing program at MCC right now or anyone who will be starting there in January? Just would like to pick your brain and see what I could be doing to prepare?? Any suggestions from anyone?

I got in for 2nd Placements on Tuesday and I applied June 25, 2007. But, if you look on whiteboard it says there are only 5 people who have been waiting over 15 months. There are 87 in the 12-15 month waiting period and 610 in the 9-12 month... and so on...

I'm really hoping at least some of the October people will be able to get in for Spring 09 - Keep your head up guys! I have a feeling there will be a lot more deferrals closer to the starting date.

Hey Alicat13! I didn't get into SCC but that's for the best - I found out the hours wouldn't work with my work schedule so I tried for the GCC weekend program and I got in! : )

Yeah I'm hoping we are the next in line for the last of the deferrals. I'm hoping:up:! If anyone gets any info on the deferrals coming in and the next group of people in line to get the deferrals please post! I'm sure we would all be greatfull of any new information:bow:

Hey Gang,

I just had a great thought! Banner will be placing and mailing out letters the end this week! That will take 60+ people off the waitlist. Granted, they can be anywhere on the list, but because they require all the pre and co reqs to be done, most of those placed should be at the 1 yr + mark. So, if you applied to Banner, good luck. For those that didn't apply or get in with Banner, there is more of a chance that us Oct stamps have a chance of getting the deffered spots!! :idea:

I guess that is good news considering I can't get an interview to save my life.

Can anyone please give me a STRAIGHT ANSWER as to what they look for on BNFP applications? What are the general criteria? This is honestly making me crazy and is making me feel like I suck or something. LOL

I have a bachelor's, am prior military, my NET scores were well above the mark, I have a game plan for childcare, financial atability, I have my pre-req's done. The only thing I can think that is holding me up is my GPA (I got C's in BIO 201, 202, and 205) I am even taking CHM130, CFS205, and Pathophysiology to bring that up... since I need them for a BSN. I am not just stopping at an RN. I want to be a FNP. I also want to work in pediatric oncology. This isn't a game for me, nor is it a chance for a free ride or guaranteed employment. I can get that on my own. I am confident of that. Would I take advantage of the opportunity? Of course... But do I need it to suceed? Certainly not. I just know I could do a great job.

I prefer Banner over any other system of hospitals (my second choice is JCL), my children were born there, I have experienced first hand what they are all about, and I mostly appreciate what they consider to be important in so far as core values. I wrote all of this in my essays.

I even wrote the folks at Banner to see what I could improve on to even get an interview. I never heard back.

I am the kind of person who always "finds a way" around an obstacle. But this time, I am seriously at a loss.
