Grrr - MCCDNP Wait list

Hi all!

So the MCCDNP site says "Spring capacities choice change options should become available late in September."

Well, I called today to see when they are expecting to release the choice options because it's already getting pretty late in September - they told me late OCTOBER! :banghead:

Pushing back the date and picking 2 months before nursing school starts seems a little unprepared and unorganized to me.

Specializes in Critical Care. CVICU. Adult and Peds PACU..

I am not even in the program yet and I have 2 NCLEX-RN Books.

One is actually very helpful when I am studying Pathophysiology - It has a lot of practice questions that patho covers. (it's the Nursing Made Easy NCLEX-RN Q&A)

I also read a book called Mosby's Tour Guide to Nursing School and it said to start studying for the NCLEX day one of nursing school. For everyone on the waiting list, this is a must-have before you start school! It was very informative!

This may be a silly question to ask but once you select your 5 schools of choice, can you go back & change the choices or are you stuck with them? How frustrating it must be for those of you waiting for such a long time and then to find out that the spots were given to the hospital employees! Congrats to those who were accepted in the program and I hope that those who are still waiting will have their turn soon!

yes you can make changes to your top 5 up until the day they do the next placement run. :) Have you applied to the program yet?

Would love to be able to apply now!! but still have a couple more prereq's to go. I was taking classes for Respiratory Therapy when one of my instructors encouraged me to think about going into nursing and so here I am. :) It makes me dizzy thinking about all this wait & the work but I plan to use that waiting to finish the co-req's. I am so happy for so many that got in. I should be ready to apply for nursing & join the waiting in July, '09. :) I am still learning the hoops on everything. Thank u all for great & informative posts!

Well that is great that you decided to go into nursing :nurse: Good luck with everything and hopefully the wait won't seem so bad since you can do your pre-reqs while you wait now...

Yes, I have been on the wait list since late Oct. '07 :yawn: After seeing the placements for this spring so far, I am hoping for august '09 placement...so about a 2 year wait :uhoh3: but it will be worth it!!

I just wanted to say good luck to those hoping to get in tomorrow... There have been a ton of deferrals already, so let's keep our fingers crossed! :yeah:

I have questioned myself at times if I really want to do this. But, I have a specific goal in mind. That far out weighs any apprehension! Butt-wiping or NO but-wiping....:coollook:

I'm in block four and I STILL ask myself if I really want to do this.

hey guys just wondering if anyone got in with the 2nd placement yesterday? just curious to see what timestamps are getting in- I wish you all still waiting good luck with future runs...And also if there's anyone who is in the nursing program at MCC right now or anyone who will be starting there in January? Just would like to pick your brain and see what I could be doing to prepare?? Any suggestions from anyone?

What I am wondering is when the next go-round is going to be... is there a summer semester for MCCCD to attend? Do they choose people to get in then as well? Or are those who have not been picked waiting for fall? If so, when do they place people for that run? I have an Oct. 22, 2007 @ 08:03:02 AM. What do you all think? Do you think I will get in for fall 09? :icon_roll

They will update the choices eventually for fall 09, but there are none that start in the summer I don't think unless they do something different this time...I think you have a really good chance to get in in the fall though I am curious what the latest timestamp that got in this time was? then u should be able to tell where you are in the line! mine was june 19 '07 and i got in to my 2nd choice for spring 09.
