Grand Canyon University RN to BSN Reviews

Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.

Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.

Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.

My point is that this program is heavy on being correct with all she had wrong, so how does one pass every class??

This, along with the blatant academic dishonesty (ie cut and paste, etc) is a couple of my biggest complaints. How does the program strive for increasing excellence and knowledge if a student cannot express themselves. What I have seen isn't just transpired by ESL or foreign students. I have seen all types that cannot express themselves in discussion posts.

Sorry about the CLC, that is awful. I don't think that the learning expectations match the actual outcome for the CLC projects. I can't wait to write my program critique once I am finished. They wont like me, assuming anyone will read it.

Only 3 people in my group and one guy in my group proceeded to tell me all that was wrong on mine.

...wait – the guy told you yours was wrong?

The other person, could not write English to the point, that I do not understand what she is trying to say. The punctuation is all over the place, very poor spelling, and I think if you had English 100 prior to AA degree, this would not be a problem. But then again, if she is from another country, maybe not required. My point is that this program is heavy on being correct with all she had wrong, so how does one pass every class??

Oh my my my, MY sentiments exactly. It's so bad/sad that I'm still depressed about it. I'm not one of those who can just run off with my paper degree and think, tough noogies to all those fools behind me; I don't care, I got what I came for, see ya”. I did exactly what rob just said – I wrote it all out in my post-program evaluation. I said how sorely disappointed I was that it appeared, by program's end, that many, many, many students had been passed through their classes with little to no direction or disciplinary action for their errors – both APA and flagrant lack of academic integrity. I made mention that, based on what I had experienced as a fellow student, I found it difficult to believe (or rather, statistically improbable) that >95% of the graduates listed in the commencement booklet received at the graduation ceremony had earned the right to graduate with Honors (defined by a >3.5 GPA). Sorry folks, based on what I saw, that math just doesn't add up. I find it akin to, and just as egregious as, passing football stars who can't read just so they can make $$$ for the school. I have since been invited to be a volunteer alumni to mentor others through the program. Um, knock knock, did anybody READ my eval?? You asked the wrong person.

She knocked 20% off and said "great paper, but a little more in depth on your relating to your future"! What? So I looked at my paper and it does nothing but reflect on my future.... She said she will take another look but I have not heard anything. I even sent her a note saying it was unfair to knock that much off when there was no rubric. had there been a rubric, it probably would of knocked 3% off or something close to it.. :grumpy:

Ouch, 20%???? That's insane! I wonder if we had the same Instructor; I remember that phrase great paper but could have used a little more depth on _____”. I, too, reread my paper(s) and had followed that assignment description to the letter. I wish you luck on this, I really do. In my experience they will never change the grade. If they do, it looks like they did it wrong the first time and that doesn't look good on them. The comment on the last one I tried to get changed was I reevaluated your paper, the grade stands”. It made me feel like I was some self-entitled youngster who was whining because "my teacher doesn't like me WHAAAAH! You're mean!!” Nope, I did what you asked, just asking for an appropriate, college-level evaluation of the content. Didn't happen.

Was this sample normally distributed? Then the sample size would have to be increased or........ It doesn't happen like that...... ;) (too lazy to look for a good smiley)

LOLLL, I just reread this and thought an appropriate reply would have been "thank you for your response, however, it could have used a little more depth". HA!

Who says I didn't learn anything from Statistics....

"hie white group .whats up with our group assignment for nex week.just want to know.what you we are all waiting for?"

That there is a quote from a group member in a BSN program... And excuse me princess, but you are part of the group and if you want to get started, tell us your ideas and we will work from there. Get off your throne and put some effort into it instead of assuming that we (the other 2 in group) were going to start everything up! The nerve of some people!

Ok everyone! Anyone that has completed Statistics...was is super time heavy? I have a trip coming up for work and do not know if I should put it off...problem is I have another trip coming up as well about 4 weeks later. I'm at a loss of what to do right now! :-/

You may not want to listen to me but this was my easiest and quickest class as of yet. It took me maybe 2 partial days to do the work each week not including DQ responses. I really like math and it makes sense to me. If you are not afraid of math then I think it wont be a problem. Just what I think.

Thanks! I am not afraid of math classes and I have taken Statistics before for my ASN degree...honestly, I'm not sure why I have to take it again and I received an A in it before. I just figured it wasn't geared towards healthcare before! I will just do it right away. Thank you again for your input! :)
