Members are discussing the accreditation and acceptance of BSN and MSN degrees from GCU in different states, particularly focusing on the requirement of a preceptorship for BSN programs. There are concerns about certain states not accepting GCU BSN degrees, while others share experiences with the capstone course and offer tips for scholarly activities. Additionally, there is mention of GCU transitioning back to a non-profit status and the impact of this change on students.
Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.
Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.
Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.
LOL!!!!
End of week 4 in Spirituality. .. I would repeat this class just to avoid CLC, Trends is my next class..
By chance were u just in HLT 317? bunch of us just finished that were in that class. Congrats on the next step. I have no clue what I plan to do next. I really haven't worked as a RN in awhile and don't plan to for the next few yrs either......i may just start taking classes with something totally different, or classes towards hospice care. Worry about that after holidays,lol.....congrats and good luck.
Dont you need to put in so many hours to maintain your license? You might want to check that out, I barely met mine when I was out for a couple of years with a back injury.
Congrats Flames!!! So exciting! What a good feeling to have it completed!
Any of you other post-capstoners have anxiety about pressing that final SUBMIT button? I have read over my final project several times but just can't bring myself to submit it!! I'm afraid I will see something that needs changing so I am holding on to it for a little while longer. Oh silly me. I want so badly to say I am done, but my finger just won't push that button yet:nailbiting:

not much i can do about that....living abroad.....VA did start recently that 1 has to have so many continuing education credits.....but I'm not working now and no plans for the next few yrs.....i know once I get back to the USA...if i decide to go back to nursing....will have to take a refresher course....worry about that then.....

nice to hit that submit button!! Not much more than 1 can do, lol look it over....its in the right order....if ur marks have been good the past 4 weeks, no reason it should change for week 5. Enjoy that final click.....i still had 2 more classes to go, so wasn't as exciting, lol
Ok, derk, did you push the button?
Yes! I sure did submit that paper that I never thought I would be able to write! I always wondered how I could write 39 pages and now that it is said and done, it really wasn't that bad! Each week had it's challenges for sure, but at the end it all came together. Thanks to everyone here at AN for your help, encouragement, listening ears, and support. I truly don't know how I would have made it without all of you!! I am so glad I went through GCU, because it really was a good experience. I have learned so much and am happy that I got my BSN, because now I see how it does make me a better, well rounded nurse.

I am in my last week of patho, and only have 4 classes left....yahoo! I was wondering if anyone had a good idea for the diabetes research paper due week 5? Worried I will choose the wrong paper to focus on. What did y'all do for yours?
