Members are discussing the accreditation and acceptance of BSN and MSN degrees from GCU in different states, particularly focusing on the requirement of a preceptorship for BSN programs. There are concerns about certain states not accepting GCU BSN degrees, while others share experiences with the capstone course and offer tips for scholarly activities. Additionally, there is mention of GCU transitioning back to a non-profit status and the impact of this change on students.
Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.
Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.
Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.
Thank you such I feel better now..
In patho only 1 DQ due each week (friday) it was a case scenario, so more work than a normal DQ, but a lot more interesting!! My prof added a 2nd DQ, which u didn't have to answer, but was to ur benefit to answer it
I have I week left of spirituality. ..I cannot wait. What gets me is how the course is so controlled on what you need to read and where from...I found it very religious. Next is patho. My adviser told me it's a hard class..
Meh, not difficult, not super easy. The dq is due on Friday, but is worth 20 points and is lengthy.

I am just starting week 3, um, not too much fun. I am not a religious person, so way too much to try and even learn in 5 weeks of what people spend a lifetime studying. Very controlled class, just thank goodness for CLC. .
I am starting to collect journal articles for Capstone class that is not for another 2 months. But I guess I really am unsure what I should be collecting, I wanted to focus on Readmission but it such a broad subject, any thoughts?
Yes I love no CLC...it is insane to get people to work on this project but like it was suggested here I take control and always offer to post so that I can have the final look

99% of the time the group just wants someone to lead...so go for it and get the ball rolling..otherwise you are just wasting time!!! And even best to lay out what is expected...APA format...citations..references....GCU has an example of a PowerPoint presentation, what to do, what not to do...good idea to attach that as well....as not everyone uses PPT...some people try and put everything on the slide. If u google..GCU Creating Effective PowerPoint Presentations you should be able to find it! And ensure u set deadlines that gives you and everyone time to fix things....and of course people will be late! I post almost daily on the color forum..lol

Just curious what are your plans after school? Are you going to get your NP?
I never did either, lol But I don't work, so wasn't overly concerned....then I said to myself...what if I had just found and read like 4 articles a week for a bit..just 4,lol But I say that to myself each week....what if I had just done a bit of work on the paper each day....instead of doing it all on Sunday! I'm doubling up a few weeks here and actually in my case found it better, as it focuses me.....no focus, my mind tends to wander and makes excuses! This goes for everyone..ensure u are saving ur work in multipl places.... I send mine up to Hotmail (outlook) One drive up in the cloud! save..save..save!!

This is fun! (only `cause I already did it, it wasn't fun back then!) That is a totally cool scenario to build your project around; kiddos are HARD to appease both pre & post-op, there has to be some great ideas out there that, if tried, maybe just maybe could reduce their pre-op anxiety and their post-op pain? You could maybe even get it implemented for real at your work! (a lot of the students in my class posted that their management was so impressed with their proposal that they wanted to implement it in real life!
