Members are discussing the accreditation and acceptance of BSN and MSN degrees from GCU in different states, particularly focusing on the requirement of a preceptorship for BSN programs. There are concerns about certain states not accepting GCU BSN degrees, while others share experiences with the capstone course and offer tips for scholarly activities. Additionally, there is mention of GCU transitioning back to a non-profit status and the impact of this change on students.
Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.
Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.
Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.
GET THOSE ARTICLES EARLY ON! Do you have any idea where you want to go for your paper? My research PICOT was not the same as my capstone. I changed it during the capstone, but I had my articles months ahead because I knew what I wanted to write about (compassion fatigue and burnout).
Thank You Flames, Prism, and Tokmom! My research PICOT back then was basically why young mothers tend to stop breastfeeding and give up vs mothers that are older (older doesn't mean old either but you know). BUT I do not work post partum and as much as this subject interests me, I want to do something more towards what I currently work with, pediatric post surgical patients. The readmission problem is something my hospital is currently working on. I will ask my manager and nurse educator for ideas. It has to be interesting to me. Nurse burnout is very interesting too as I can see how that happens easily.

I googled "pico pediatric post surgical patients" and some good stuff came up:

This is fun! (only `cause I already did it, it wasn't fun back then!) That is a totally cool scenario to build your project around; kiddos are HARD to appease both pre & post-op, there has to be some great ideas out there that, if tried, maybe just maybe could reduce their pre-op anxiety and their post-op pain? You could maybe even get it implemented for real at your work! (a lot of the students in my class posted that their management was so impressed with their proposal that they wanted to implement it in real life! )
Oooohh! And then I googled "pediatric post surgical readmissions" and even cooler stuff came up! And it's RECENT! Oh somebody stop me before I start writing a paper just for the fun of it! :rotfl:
(okay so maybe i miss school just a little bit. i admit it, i love learning... )
Hey guys I take patho beginning next week please PM me recommended instructors and ones to stay away from please!!!! And any advice would be great!

Okay you are cracking me up!! BUT I SURE DO APPRECIATE IT!! And if you really miss school that much, would you like to find 15 articles for me too? ahahahahhaaha:bookworm:
Hi
I just started Spirituality as well.... How do I get a list ?
Ok I have been snooping through Capstone that I am about to start tomorrow. I have not seen anything out of the ordinary as of yet. The prof (one not on the list) does not have anything crazy posted, only to watch the deadlines and look at the grading scale. What should I be looking for? Maybe it's too early to tell if I will be lucky with this one or not. Still wanting to gamble on it though. I just want to be done!
How is your capstone class? I am not there yet, but it seems to be on my mind a lot. Trying to figure out an instructor and time committment.
FlamesI know! I told myself I would have my articles (I can almost hear Tokmom scolding me since she has been preaching that all along!) ready by now, but I have been so busy doubling my classes and we have been gone for several days that I haven't gotten to it yet. I will start working on it ASAP!
Doubling class? I have been wanting to double classes and wonder which classes you doubled. I had some credits for another university so I wondered about doubling up with Trends and Issues paired with AMP Leadership. Then doubling with HLT 308 Risk and 314 Health Care Systems.... Any advice anyone.. Sure appreciate it.
I found the first 2 weeks the busiest..but if u know ur picot statement and have the 15 articles...and know what they are about...ur laughing!!

If u do a google search on Picot, you will find many links on how to make a good picot-----it is all based on research that other have conducted.....I did mine on Type 2 diabetes/Insulin pumps and nursing. Start googling PICOT and slowly start finding the articles..u have plenty of time! And don't be afraid to ask the GCU librarians for help!!
