Members are discussing the accreditation and acceptance of BSN and MSN degrees from GCU in different states, particularly focusing on the requirement of a preceptorship for BSN programs. There are concerns about certain states not accepting GCU BSN degrees, while others share experiences with the capstone course and offer tips for scholarly activities. Additionally, there is mention of GCU transitioning back to a non-profit status and the impact of this change on students.
Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.
Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.
Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.
I'm in the last week of Health Assessment.... I've got to turn in an assessment of an adult, powerpoint presentation on a movie, 2 dq's, and 9 responses this last week? YIKES!
It was hellacious . I took that week off work. Seriously.
Yeah that's a nasty one. The capstone had multiple projects due in one week as do other classes. You certainly adapt.

I should have thought of that!
Great thing about Leadership, at least in my class....only 1 assignment per week, and no CLC projects......
I should have thought of that!
I took one day a week off for the capstone. It really helps when you work full time.

Glad another 3 units are almost done, but IMO this is way to much work for 1 week. Are there more classes down the road that require so much work in 1 week? I sure hope not, adapt and overcome I guess...
Wow, I never thought of this. I am in this class right now and starting week 4. As it turns out I will have all of Christmas break to complete this work. On that final Monday I will hand everything in like a bad 'Azz' and say "see ya". Sorry it worked out for you like this.
OK, what are the most difficult courses to take, and if you could single out the most difficult course, what would you likely say it is? I'm talking about multiple assignments due each week.... ect... I want to schedule this course next, since I'll have the winter break to work on some of the assignments. I have heard some horror stories posted about Spirituality. Should I take this course next?

Hard question to honestly answer! I finished Spirtuality recently and found it to be 1 of the easiest classes! It really all comes down to the prof
Really is difficult to say. You must remember the classroom essentially shuts down, so no asking questions to the instructor. If there is a clc your groupies disappear.
I worked on my capstone even though the class was five months away. I found my articles and loaded the references in PEERLA

I enjoyed Spirituality probably more than any other class. But no CLC so you don't need to worry about the group thing.

There are classes with two assignments in one week, somehow we learn to adapt. I found for myself that when I enter the classroom and see two due in one week I will try and work on one of those assignments as the week progress so that when it gets to that final week I have really spread one of those assignments over the whole class. HTH.
