Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.

Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.

Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.

I still haven't figured this allnurses site out. Can someone PM me so I know how it works? As in send me a PM with a smiley or something so I can see what the PM window looks like. I can't even find where the PM is on the site.....duhhhhh

Yes, absolutely, I interviewed my mom & her husband, they answered all of my questions excepppppt "that one". I ended up just typing something like "interviewees are both beyond child bearing years so reproductivity was not addressed, and both politely declined to answer intimacy questions". It's not really something I wanted to know anyway! LOL

You didn't want to know if they were MWF folk? ;)

My bff did answer those questions. I told her it was optional, but I think being friends for thirty years, she figured talking was safe

Did anyone else just interview their own family for the Family Health Assessment Interview paper (class 2)? I'm really not about to ask my friends about their family's pooping patterns or sex lives. Am I right here?

Was this the one where you had to create the questions? I just interviewed a family friend (wife and child). It wasn't bad because we are pretty good friends. I got some real intimate answers that I wasn't expecting. Guess they felt it was professional and I could help them or let them know if there was a problem. I expected really superficial vague answers but got a lengthy discussion.

I wonder if it has to do with our profession and people feel they can be honest about things usually not talked about?

I think the most eye opening interview came in spirituality when I interviewed my mother. You would have thought living with and knowing this woman for many years that there would have been no surprises. Boy, was I wrong.

Now you got me curious! :specs:

sooo This Monday starts the most stressful part of this journey to get my BSN.. STATISTICS dum dum dum! I have the best instructor so I have been told, thanks Tokmom! I took a peek into the class and I am scared that I will not know anything! It all looks foreign to me. Any advice anyone? :banghead:

I hope you like him. If you have today off, start reading. The stats book. In my opinion isn't all that helpful. Anyway, when you do the assignment in they book, make sure to also complete a few or all of the pretest questions that have the answers. It may take some extra time, and we don't turn them in, but it will show you abd idea how you will do on the graded exercise.

Another thing: Google...Google..Google. If you don't understand. Read. People explain things differently and an instructor from XYZ university may do a better job than Khan Academy.

Wolfram Alpha can be helpful with equations and is free to a couple of bucks.

Good luck!!

jjPedsRN, have sent you a PM! You are going to do awesome in Stats!

I have a question again..... Is thinking Storm available to tutor on the weekends or only during the week? Trying to plan when I can use them.
