Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?
Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?
I'm just awesome--or was it that Tokmom told me to do that!! Yep it was Tokmom! And that is what I have found, take the lead, and more than likely the others will agree, and then submit to prof. Then ask people what parts they want--if no response, hand out assignments, lol I more or less say the sooner we get it all sorted out---the less emails you will get from I!! I start the process as soon as the groups are assigned. Just be aware some don't feel the same enthusiasm as you! Some won't even have the decency to reply back to emails, some will be in email contact--then drop the class, and won't tell you! Ensure u look at the Rubik and understand what has to be accomplished. I have lucked out in my groups for the most part, others were happy i took the lead and got the ball rolling and they did their part very well!!I'm just glad Stats is over, lol And almost looking forward to papers--almost!!
LOL...looking forward to papers yikes! Is stats that bad? I have family centered health promotion next...how is that class? Are there group projects in EVERY class? This is only my first group assignment and I am already so frustrated! Thanks for the advice, all good suggestions that I will heed!
Reason why I say ensure the CLC is completed properly....In 1 class, 1 gal I chatted with online was having issues with 1 student, and the prof asked---what does your CLC say??? She had stated in the CLC agreement, that she would be responsible for editing. But she didnt expect 1 students writing to be of a very low standard--thus requiring to rewrite it!!! So in my CLC agreements I put something along the line that ones writing skills should be at an appropriate college level. Maybe that is over kill, lol But once you have one CLC agreement completed, you can for the most part keep using it over and over.
Actually Stats isn't too bad, lot of work, but i still managed to pull off a 4.0, even sucked the 1st week. I liked the prof. She was very fair and good.
yeppers what Jrich stated! Still the same 2 DQ's 1 due Wed--other due Friday! Each DQ worth 5 pts, and participation worth 20. At least for us!
1 Excel spreadsheet home work, due Sunday. Our profs Youtube videos were step by step on how to do that---worth 90 pts! Module 1 HLT 362V (2013) - YouTube
The exercise book home work was usually 1 exercise, which consisted of 10 questions! I believe for 2 weeks---we had 2 exercises, each with 10 questions!! Total worth 80 points. Due Sundays
Each week was 200 points!
Don't forget GCU has online tutors--no clue if they are any good. Book a Tutor | Learning Resources | Grand Canyon University
My advice....take the lead. In some groups nothing would get accomplished. Most just sit back and happy to just tag along. So give them an option or 2, a deadline and then ask people to do certain parts, if they don't say anything, assign it, lol. Of course all done diplomatically. In some assignments it's first come first served, so if u want a topic, one has to act! In ur Clc agreement, very easy to do, but make sure what everyone has to is laid out well, and what the consequences will be if they don't fulfill their part of the work.
Flames has learned well, lol. Very true. Don't wait for some because you will be left with no time to finish because some of them will totally drag their heels.
Go through the highlights of the theorist and tell you group you find Orem (example) wonderful and see what they say.
If you are super anal about your grades and don't trust others to edit, always sign up for that piece. Yes, it sucks because when others are done and they gleefully hand you a mess you have to fix, you get to sit and spend the weekend fixing it. Thankfully, I went through GCU with a twin, so we teamed up on our group projects and we had each other's back.
Read your stuff and you will get an idea. Have you done a power point before? The best way is to take the syllabus and use what topics they want discussed as the outline, and incorporate the rubric requirements as well. It makes it easier, in my opinion, to then hand the slides to others and everyone knows what the need to research.. I hope I didn't confuse you!
I'm surprised at the # of people that don't know how to use MS Word or Powerpoint!! GCU does offer free online tutorials for them!
You were lucky you were able to join up on projects! I know a few times people have asked--and the prof said nope!! Doesn't hurt to ask though
Group projects can be somewhat easy if you get the ball rolling and people do their part!
I'm just happy no school until march 31st!!

You lucky person! I have two weeks off before the Capstone, and I'm happy about that!
As for the group project, we have never been turned down. There is no CLC in leadership so we are DONE with them!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I never had any ppt or MS Word experience. My teens gave me a crash course. I sure know what I'm doing now! I do recommend becoming proficient at APA, read a beginner stats book, and get familiar with Word and power point.
I have two questions. About how much of the reading do you guys do? I'm a super slow snail reader and i haven't been getting through all of it. I am more of an auditory learner anyway and I don't feel like I'm gaining much knoweldge.
Secondly, how do you evenly split up the labor in group projects? I completed my first group project and it went pretty good but one of the guys in my group just signed up to create the outline and make sure every one completes their tasks. I didn't think this was fair as the majority of the project was placed on two students shoulders. When I politely presented my concerns to the group I got no responses and then the CLC was turned in and there was no going back. I might be too sensitive, but I think if you're not going to edit you should at lest research and write. What do you guys think?

You are so funny! Yes, definitely look and see what the rubric says. Sometimes it is so difficult to get some people to do their part. If you are having that kind of trouble let the instructor know. I had to do that with a few classmates.
