I'm in AMP-450V right now. There is not a true CLC. In week one there is an assignment where you are supposed to "interview" a classmate. Our teacher had us all answer the interview questions and post in a special forum called the class forum. It was pretty easy. You are able to read the posted interviews and choose the one you like the most that way. There is one paper where you need to attend a committee meeting of some sort in week 3. In week 5 there is a powerpoint due. So far, I am really behind in work, but it doesn't seem too difficult. I am not a cash student. I get financial aid and so many loans, so I don't have the option of testing out without messing up my financial situation. If I was a cash student I totally would test out because now that I am done with the capstone I have, like, zero motivation. I wish I would have taken this class sooner. Oh, also, one thing I was talking to Flames about is this class is a 400's level, but I could have taken a 300's level class. I'm not sure, but maybe 300 level classes are easier. http://www.gcu.edu/Documents/Academic-Catalog/Academic-Catalog.pdf ^^ That is the link to the course catalog where you can find the class descriptions. I'm thinking I should have taken linear algebra because I think I would have found it more fun than leadership and vocation!

Oh darn. I know I typed up a response to this, but I'm so I scattered I didn't end up posting it! I'm chipping away at my last class. Once I get some more free time I am going to SLEEP, read for fun, and spend more time with my SO before he starts grad school in the fall! I cannot wait!

Guess who didn't sleep last night? Guess who just turned their capstone in? It's me for both questions!!!! Yay!!!!! I'm both exhausted and wired (coffee :) ). I'm very very happy. I just have to get my charge nurse to review it, and I send in that paper. Even if I do really bad on the project, I think I will still pass the class and at this point that is allllll i'm worried about. 5 more weeks and I will be able to wear my fancy new BSN pin. Yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Prism, something funky is happening for me too! When you are logged in you can go to: https://allnurses.com/private.php In better news! I am all caught up on work. I am in week 4 of the capstone and I have to do all the week 4 work, but at lest I finished up everything else and I am no longer behind! Yippee!

YES! This is a great tip, but sadly it's too late for me to implement it. Imagine doing it all the first week, then you'd get to work ahead for week 3! It would have saved so much time.

Thanks Flames, I was only (kind of) joking. I know I should be more interested in diabetes because so many of the patients in my community have it. A patient last week told me she would eat a whole 5 lb bag of sugar lick by lick, and the bag would be gone in 2-3 days. Diabetes is just not something I am very passionate about I guess. Flames, I would definitely recommend finding a PICO that is personally interesting. Once you choose it your stuck with in for 5 LONG weeks!

All of my articles are really different and some of them do not support my practice change. Some of them deal with adults, pregnant women, and some deal with children. Maybe that is why mine was so long. I couldn't find 15 articles on only adults. Maybe I will print mine out and cut it up. That's a pretty good idea! In the big momma, do we need to have such a detailed literature review included? It doesn't look like it on the rubric. It seems more audience based, as where the lit review seemed more like a project for my own understanding. The rubric includes abstract, problem description, solution description, implementation plan, evaluation plan, and dissemination plan. Where would the lit review even go in there? In the solution description? The final paper seems like it will be complicated for me. I decided on doing my project on increasing continuous glucose monitoring usage. This seems like it would be most appropriate to implement in the primary care setting. Do you think I need to contact local facilities? Ahhhh. Maybe I wont pass and I will have the opportunity to do this project again but with a more interesting topic. That would be the silver lining.

I have a few days off in a row, yippeee! I don't feel like a zombie anymore and can really focus on school. I'm going to plant my bum at the Starbucks and not leave until I'm done with week 3, or the kick me out! Who knew this nursing gig would be so hard and so much different than school? I totally wasn't prepared. I am on a step down cardiac unit and there is so much to learn there. Also I need to learn to be more authoritative. I have been letting my patients manipulate and walk all over me. It's really emotionally tiring. The last day I worked this man yelled at me the whole time we were waiting for his cab. He told me I was a bad nurse and I didn't even care about him and I didn't want to help him. He was the type of person who didn't like to hear no. He went out of the country to get a gastric sleeve at like 30.3 BMI. Anyway, I'm feeling super optimistic about getting all this work done today. I WILL get caught up today! Boy that Review of the Literature took me forever. Mine ended up being 22 pages long and I am not even sure if I did it right. I guess I'll know when I get my grade! How long was yours Prism? 2.5 more weeks until I get to take a break from school!

Working on week two assignments in week 3 of the capstone. Why is this such a time consuming and boring assignment? I CANNOT WAIT TO BE OUTTA SCHOOL!

Puddles, you'll learn about it in Intro to Research. It is basically a format for developing a research question. It includes: (P) Population of Focus (I) Intervention © Comparison (O) Outcome (T) Time Here is some more info found doing a quick search: 'P I C O' examples Question:‘In patients with recurrent furunculosis, do prophylactic antibiotics, compared to no treatment, reduce the recurrence rate?'

P Population/patient = patients with recurrent furunculosis

I Intervention/indicator = prophylactic antibiotics

C Comparator/control = no treatment

O Outcome = reduction in recurrence rate of furunculosis

Time is sometimes not included!

I am almost ALWAYS over on word count because I want to try to always display a "deep knowledge" so I can get a 5 in each category. Since word count is not on the rubric I feel like it is more important to de detailed. As for organization sometimes I am also all over the place because of the darn prompts. They are like puzzles. For the most part I try to just keep the layout in the rubric and make the rubric titles my level 1 headings. When I turned in my corrected paper I just made sure to correct the things the teacher called my attention to. I think I took one or two suggestions from the other student, but I wasn't so worried. I'm wishing I was in spirituality again!
