Grand Canyon RN-BSN

Published

Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?

Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?

Dorothea Orem's Self-Care Deficit theory, lots of info

We did Leininger's cultural care theory & it have us a lot of info to go on. Any model that you can get a lot of info from will be good

What does your group want to do? And what theorist do you see fitting into current practice?

Has anyone used a tablet to successfully download the e-books onto? Its starting to get a bit tedious to do all of the required reading on a laptop.

I would prefer not to spend the $400+ on an ipad and I know there are a lot of more affordable android/Kindle/Nook tabs out there but any first-hand tips would be great, specifically to downloading the books from Pageburst and for reading

I was able to download mine onto my iPad. Don't know about other tablets, but I'm guessing they'd all be compatible!

I have an iPad and was able to download them as well. I almost prefer reading on my laptop though because I find it easier to highlight and like the bigger screen. I'd actually rather have the physical book but maybe I am old school :oldman:

Hi tokmom,jmiraRN, flames9_rn,

I would PM you but can't yet. I don't want to say so I can preserve anonymity. Unfortunately my group doesn't seem to have much opinion or communication. I am a newbie nurse so hard for me to think of examples of applying the theory for improvement. Thank you guys for those two suggestions, good to know there is a lot of information/research on those two models.

My advice....take the lead. In some groups nothing would get accomplished. Most just sit back and happy to just tag along. So give them an option or 2, a deadline and then ask people to do certain parts, if they don't say anything, assign it, lol. Of course all done diplomatically. In some assignments it's first come first served, so if u want a topic, one has to act! In ur Clc agreement, very easy to do, but make sure what everyone has to is laid out well, and what the consequences will be if they don't fulfill their part of the work.

My group did one Dorothea E. Orem's self-care deficit theory of nursing. I would do the same thing that @Flame9_RN suggested. Pick what you want to ask if the group agree. Since they are not contributing they will most likely say yes instead of thinking about what they want. Good luck!

I agree with flames, take the lead! I have had to in every class we had a group project because everyone else was like Tweedledee and Tweedledum!

I can't remember which one my group did, but I was the one that chose it. No one would do anything. Be prepared to be the leader in most of your groups. Otherwise Flames9_RN is right.

I'm just awesome--or was it that Tokmom told me to do that!! Yep it was Tokmom! And that is what I have found, take the lead, and more than likely the others will agree, and then submit to prof. Then ask people what parts they want--if no response, hand out assignments, lol I more or less say the sooner we get it all sorted out---the less emails you will get from I!! I start the process as soon as the groups are assigned. Just be aware some don't feel the same enthusiasm as you! Some won't even have the decency to reply back to emails, some will be in email contact--then drop the class, and won't tell you! Ensure u look at the Rubik and understand what has to be accomplished. I have lucked out in my groups for the most part, others were happy i took the lead and got the ball rolling and they did their part very well!!

I'm just glad Stats is over, lol And almost looking forward to papers--almost!!
