Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?

Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?

The only thread I see is 5-7 yrs old and focuses on religion.

Hello, wondering the same thing. I've been in contact with admissions counselor and program seems pretty good. However, I'm always skeptical when things sound too good to be true. Anyone out there familiar with GCU's program? I was told I can start even without my official transcripts being reviewed. That's fine and dandy, but I would rather start when I know 100% what my standing is in regard to extra courses (I already have a previous bachelor's in addition to my ADN).

Tokmom - Have you made a final decision on GCU yet?

Have you sent any unofficial transcripts? I sent my officially. Actually they did the legwork for me, which was nice.

I have made up my mind and will probably start this next February. They seem really helpful and that was echoed by one of my co workers who is a GCU grad. Our work had a job fair and our education dept has nothing but good to say about them. I do know they are on the more expensive side, but my work has education stipends up to 3000.00 per year and also offer scholarships. If I join ANA for a whopping 50 bucks a year, I get another 2000.00 dollars knocked off tuition. My co-worker, by the time she was done, said the program only cost her 4000.00. That to me is doable.

Let me know if you do decide to go with GCU!

Hey All

I am currently in the RN-BSN program and GCU and I love it! I am finishing up my 2nd class and have a 4.0 so far. I am expected to graduate October 2013. I only have to take just the nursing classes. Go for it! You won't be sorry!

Sure. I have started a thread in the Grand Canyon University section. You can post there too if you like.

Hello tokmom - Just saw your response. Yes, my transcripts have been officially requested by GCU and I am awaiting their response. I have nothing to go on regarding GCU except what other current/previous students say about their experience. I am glad to hear that one of your coworkers gives it high marks. Do you know by chance if the program is 100% online? I have applied at other schools and will make up my mind once I get official word on whether I need extra classes and such. GCU is definitely a bit on the expensive side even with their 10% off with an ANA discount. I was told in addition to intuition there is also $110 per class and about $400 in technology fees. Since I'm a recent grad with no employer right now, I am on my own with tuition. I am not discarding GCU just yet though. I wish I could obtain more recent feedback on what to expect.

I have been excepted to GCU for a start date of Oct 26th. My official transcripts have not arrived as of yet. They have the courses already set for me. Again without my official transcripts. I need about 5 Gen Ed classes to be added. Not sure when that will happen. I am very worried there is something not on the up and up. I emailed questions from posts I have read. ie the $110 extra per class. The other odd thing I find is that I was awarded a student load and some grant money. I have completed my financial aid info but have not sent my tax return. It almost seems to good to be true that I can start.

It is all online. I like that idea.

How long have you been waiting for a response? I heard you have to keep on them, and they aren't great for getting back right away. I'm inpatient though, and I hate waiting.

The cost and the extra's do add more to the overall bill. I'm going to take some loans out and pay it off later.

Keep me posted.

I echo some of your concerns. They transfered the max credits into the program. I asked them if this was all there was. No more or no less. They said this was all there was, just the BSn courses.

Grand Canyon comes to our job fair at work, and they are tied to the ANA. I also know of a grad that seems happy with the program.

If you hear anything, keep the rest of us posted. I will do the same. People seem really happy once they are in the program.

I have spoke with financial aid and the enrollment person. What I have is this. The $110.00 is for books. If you have one or ten books the cost is same per class.

They will accept me to start without official transcripts. I will start Professional Dynamics. I think I can take two classes before my offical transcripts must be recieved. They have looked at my unofficial and given me a course outline to follow. I am waiting to speak with an academic advisor because they only show my human growth and development class as an elective right now. This is a required class. If they do not recognize it I will not go.

I have applied to Capella, South U, Jacksonville U, and UT Arlington. I want to look at all my options before I decide. Price+classes offered+time to complete. I want a good curriculum. I am planning on going to CRNA school once I am finished. I am worried about the academic coach at UTA, the slow process at Capella, some bad reviews I've seen about most if not all and prices.
