Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?
Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?
I think Patho is a lot more straight forward than others..the CLC project should be a 2 person project.....I do believe there is a PP and paper at week 5...but the only thing due in week 4 (besides the DQ) is the group project!!
The best part about the powerpoint for Patho is that it's a solo one. I loved those.
Feeling so burned out. April 5 I am done! Fingers crossed I will survive Capstone. Sounds like a super intense course. I do have a recommended instructor so I'm praying it's not quite as bad as I'm expecting. I don't think I've ever looked forward to summer as much as this upcoming one! Me and sunshine and pleasure reading. I can hardly wait......only thing keeping me trudging along.
kwmom, you are lucky to get the recommend instructor for Capstone, as every time I try to get the list of instructors that are teaching when I'm taking classes they never know until like the week before the class starts. As of right now all of the instructors for Patho are ones I've never heard of and there is one section left with no instructor and that's the class I'm in as of right now. For Capstone there are still no instructors listed which sucks.

I read every bodice ripping romance novel after the capstone, lol.

Kwmom, who did you get? Pm me..
Winter we are so close! I actually did the DQs and saved them all when we first got the syllabus so I have done it......just don't remember it LOL. I am working to get all my Patho stuff done before capstone starts since I overlap one week. I sorta feel like I'm in such a panic to get it all done and make sure I have time to finish getting my capstone articles that I'm not putting out my best work, but so far it's working out. I've taken on some new roles at work so that is adding to my panic level. GAH! On the bright side, it'll all be over soon. You'll be a year older with those 3 beautiful letters added behind your name. :)
They are letting you over lap??? Definitely get the patho done before the cap. It's a heavy class from the beginning, complete with DQ
update on Spirituality class... took the quiz they had and got 6/10 points. Not sweating it because it is low points. But I have no idea what I missed. That bugs me. Anyways, it is multiple choice on ethos. Its is timed for 30 minutes which is plenty of time. This class is different but I am just happy it is not statistics anymore and I am done with that! Positive thinking. But hey you are all scaring me with this capstone. Mine is fist week of July.
JJ,
The capstone made me break out in a cold sweat and I was so worried about it that I took one extra day off a week and I found my articles in December even though I wasn't going to be in the capstone until April. Once I was in the class, I found out it was very busy but doable. I think it helps to have a topic you have either a passion or interest, because you have to spend 5 weeks writing about it.
I also think it helps to have a good instructor. I can't imagine having an APA Godzilla. My prof was a stickler for APA and she expected the students, by the capstone, to know what they were doing. She would knock off a point or two and help correct the paper, so that was cool. She put a 110% into her teaching and getting us past the class.

Gosh, you are so smart Tokmom. I am a little worried. I am a new grad who has been out of school since June 2013. I am starting my first nursing job the week I start the capstone. I don't think there is a better option for me since I get student loans. I can push it back two weeks, but that means I will be finishing the capstone when I'm no longer with my preceptor (I get 6 weeks of training). I developed a bad PICO question in my Intro to Research class about new grad nurses who receive comprehensive new grad training. I couldn't think of anything better at the time and my teacher told us to not overthink it and to write from our area of expertise (none in my case).
Anyway, I want to start looking for articles now but I am wondering how specific my PICO statement should be. The one I wrote about in Intro to Research seemed pretty specific (not a lot of research).

I just finished that paper/powerpoint for Patho on Sunday. It was really one of the easier assignments. Just finding new treatment/diagnostic tool for diabetes. I found an article on a medication and basically summarized it.
Then for the first portion of the powerpoint I created bullet points of what I said in my paper and then wrote a little bit more about applying this new practice into nursing.
It kind of reminded me of the assignments we had in Intro to Research.
