Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?
Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?
Tokmom,Thank you for your advice. I have no idea what to do my pico question on. I had a good one when I took research but it is not within my expertise (pediatrics). It had to do with why younger women tend to quit breastfeeding vs moms that may be starting out as first time parents in their late 20's. More geared towards why those who have had babies in their teens early 20s are less likely to continue breastfeeding within first 2-3 weeks of giving birth. I just whipped that up while I was in that class but I would rather have a subject it will be easy to find material on. How many articles will we need in capstone?
A minimum of 15 articles, with at least 8 being research. The remaining can be peer review.
I am wondering if anyone is available to give advice on my part of the CLC project for Community Health. I am thinking that someone else had the same issue I have and can help me understand.
I am working on the CLC project for Community health and of course we are discussing my community. I was to interview a public health provider, which I did last night, and do those power point pages for the project. I thought I had it all figured out, I was to summarize the interview, discuss the health issues, the community strengths, the community resources, actual and at risk diagnoses, and prevention and surveillance measures. I reread the rubric and I am all jumbled now. It talks about a summary table, say what? Is the summary table derived from the Functional Health Patterns Community assessment guide? I am a little lost.
Another group member is completing the Health pattern assessment and I sent her a bunch of information about the community and where to find the information.
I sent Prism a PM but she must not be online. My part of the assignment is due on Thursday and I am fairly confused at the moment. Anyone have any insight?
rob, It was probably me who you were thinking of. That is a very confusing assignment!! I felt exactly the same. This CLC was the worst experience for me so far. We did have 1 member save our behinds and come to the rescue just when it was about to fall apart a day before it was due.
We put everything on the ppt. The interview was summarized over several slides. The summary of key findings was put on 1 slide. The Functional Health Patterns were all on separate slides as well as a table spread out over 3 slides talking about each pattern. Also the boundaries and features, geopolitical features. and financial and phenomenological features were on separate slides. I think we ended up with 22 slides total. I hope this clears up a few of your questions. If not let me know.

Thanks for the help, I think I am correct about what needs to be in the PP pages, but the wording on the rubric is just awful. It talks about a summary table that includes all functional Health Patterns under the heading of summary of interview with community health/public health provider. The functional health patterns are assigned to someone else but I just was looking for clarification of the rubric. I have been busy with everything else and just noticed the problem. This instructor takes at least 24-48 hours to send a response. I thought I was doing great in this class and then something knocks me off track.
I, too, have traumatic memories of that CLC assignment. It was so confusing, and we had one team member that just wasn't getting it. This was the one and only time we had to kick someone to the curb on Saturday night and the remaining ones all took those pieces and did them on Sunday to turn in that night. I remember the assignment being unclear about the interviews; did they want one or two? What did they consider the difference between a public health provider and a community health provider? Our Prof said we needed two, so we did two. Like derk, ours was a massive amount of information. It ended up being 21 slides with 24 references. And, we turned in 6 things to the assignment dropbox. And just when you think the nightmare is over, here comes week 5 with 3 indivdual assignments due on that last day. Augh!
So yeah, we never could figure out what a summary table was, we just put every bit of info in regular slide form (headers, bullet points, speaker notes), and made sure we hit all the topics. We started with a basic demographic slide about the community, then a slide on the phenomenological features, then went into a bunch of slides on the 11 individual FHPs, then some slides summarizing the interviews, then a conclusion summary with key findings about the community and its general health as a community (pulled from info earlier in the ppt). It was enormous.
Oh, and who's the unlucky sap that got ALL the FHPs to do?? Ouch! How many ppl are in your group? if you do the interview & one person does all the FHPs, what are the others doing?

Just the background stuff like demographics etc. People are handing in their slides now and it seems they couldn't handle this part either. I sent them at least 7 links to information including the US Census Department, local health education center, county website, city website, and articles from the paper that proved various points we wanted to make. One person just responded to me today stating that his slides weren't that good because it was hard to gather information about the community..... Are you kidding me? I did it for you, you just needed to pull it from the documents and put into a power point format.
This one is going to be a bad one I can feel it....... I should have just stayed away......
