It's never too late!!! I believe there have been posts on this thread about people who have been out of school for like 10+ years and they still managed to pass the NCLEX. If they can do it, so can YOU! I think it's good you're taking a review class now. Maybe you should also consider the Saunders Comprehensive Review Book. It is excellent for reviewing content. Kaplan is also great for critical thinking type questions. These questions are actually similar to the real NCLEX. Hope this helps. And good luck!

Be sure to check with your state's BON to determine their rules. I know that Texas sets a limit of 4 years from graduation. I think you have to take an approved refresher course. Double check before you pay all the money!! ;)

As long as you are still eligible according to your state board of nursing, it's something you can achieve. Like Lena, I do remember one poster who passed after ~12 years.

hi guys thanks for all you encouragements, motivation &kind words it gives me more confidence to study harder &retake the boards b/c as hard as it was in nsg school why give up now please continue to send your thoughts and tips on how to pass the nclex any one out there who knows if it will be a problem for me with BON for waiting so long 2001 grad ,ny state pass on info. thanks:idea:  :trout:

I graduated in 2001 and I failed too (5 times). The last time I took the boards was in 2003. I just started studying again last week. I'm doing Suzanne's plan, which everyone swears by! I live in AZ and I'm told that once I pass the boards, before I can obtain my license I will have to take a refresher course! There are several colleges here that do that, each with a different length of time (6 weeks to 4 months) and each has a different price (the shorter you go, the more it is)!

This website has given me the motivation and confidence to try again. I will pass; obviously GOD was telling me that practicing nursing was not meant to be for me back then. I did graduate from nursing school and get my BSN, so my day will come!!! Good luck to you!

Originals, I will say a prayer for you. Just do it!

I mean this with kindness in my heart and best of wishes for your future success: but have you considered therapy or treatment for your depression ? I'm sure you can pick yourself up and go forward, but I'm much more concerned about why your depression has been so deep, and remains with you up to the present, and also...when you are finally an RN (and I BELIEVE you CAN do it, even with this delay!), you will have many other disappointments and challenges, along with the good stuff too (of course!). I wish you all the best!

I feel your pain! I am a foreign-educated nurse (Australia) and I am studying right now to sit the NCLEX-RN. I graduated in 1996 from my nursing degree, so it's been a while. I have been working in critical care for most of the time in between so the stuff I know, I know really well, but after being a cardiac nurse for 7 years, going back to endocrine and neuro etc etc is HARD!

Just do the study, practice questions and I'm sure you can be successful as I am hoping to be!

Not at all, I have helped students get thru the exam that have never practiced and it has been more than ten years for them. And they do it the first time.

Take a look at the first tip of my program, it is at the top of the NCLEX Forum. I am willing to help you, if you want the help.

Just contact me via my pm box here. You just need to click on my user name and it will take you to the right area.

Don't get discouraged. This summer there were threads about two different people who graduated 12 years ago who reviewed and finally passed their boards.
