Graduate in the Philippines to take NCLEX in California

HI, I'd like to ask if someone has the same sitch as me and what they did.

I am a graduate of Manila Doctors College last May 2011.

I'm back here in California. I am a permanent resident (green card holder). I have read on the CA.RR.GOV that I do not need to take the Philippine local boards or the cgfns and the toefl exam to take the NCLEX.

I have already accomplished my livescan and sent in my application and paid 150$.

Now they have sent me a letter requiring me with the following things:

1. Class schedule for the nursing program completed at MDC

2. Transcript for all education and training sent from MDC

3. Enrollment forms during my nursing years

4. Clinical rotation schedule and/or student logbook reflecting dates, instructor's signature and location of clinical training completed

5. Social security card

6. Passport and visa

I have no problem with numbers 2,5 and 6. But my the others I don't know how to get. :( I don't have a copy of my class schedules anymore, and so as my enrollment forms for 4 years. and most importantly, the clinical rotation schedule with dates and instructor's signature. :( HOW WERE YOU GUYS ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH THAT? I'm self reviewing for my exam and going to the library everyday, but right now i cant focus because I don't know how to accomplish these things. :(

I REALLY HOPE SOMEONE CAN GIVE ME AN ADVICE ON WHAT'S THE BEST THING TO DO.

Have you checked the HI BON website? you should also be able to see something on requirements on cgfns website. I don't think there is a problem at the moment with H! as others have recently met requirements

Hello Guys, does anyone of you know someone who applied at Hawaii for nclex? Do they need english proficiency certification or just the cgfns ces? Thanks Guys..

If you are saying you're a 2013 grad and you know 100% for sure that ALL your courses were done together especially the clinical AND theory sections in the exact SAME month/semester, not months later or a year or two later, then you might have the correct concurrent requirements that the CA BON needs to see and your school transcripts needs to reflect that in the same correct manner.

If so, I would go ahead and take the chance applying in CA, if you're not a 2013 grad, then there's a very high chance you will not meet the minimum and get rejected.

With regards to not having a local PH nurses license, you can write to be excused or exempted due to being a USC and didn't take it due to PH rules. But I know that other USC have been able to take the local exam and passed. So the CA BON is very aware of that. If the CA BON accepts your excuse, then consider yourself lucky. If not, then really, it's your problem and not theirs, as it is a requirement for any and all international applicant.

Just know that if you get denied for whatever reasons, all the fees submitted is not refundable.

WA state is a known concurrent enforcing state, but again, it is case-by-case. Just like NV who recently started to enforce the rules. Google WA board of nursing to find out the requirements and print out the application forms.

As far as trying to endorse from one state to another, it's a waste of time and money, just go after the other primary state (outside of the concurrent enforcing states) as each state has its own requirements (course evaluation and English exams wherever applicable) that must be met even if you're practicing RN for 10-25 years, as it doesn't matter, each state will always want to look at each applicant's transcripts as part of the endorsement process. There are many here who passed the NCLEX then try to endorse into another state only to get turned down as they didn't meet that state's requirements after spending money for exams/tests and application fees.

Just be prepared to work and practice in a state that you don't really want to be in but have no choice due to the strict concurrent rules or that you're missing some other courses. Dont' blame any of the state BON's, it's our own CHED who blind sided us in the real scheme of things. We are now in US terrorities and just have to deal with it the best we can.

There are other options of going the LVN-RN route or get enrolled in a CA school to make up the deficiencies, just know both options have its pluses and minuses. There's plenty of reads covered in these forums.

Has nothing to do with not having a PI license but the issue of many not having cases concurrent with theory. If you want to live and work in Washington then just check out the state requirements (links can be found for the BON website at the bottom of the page) submit docs and wait to see what the BON says

hi yes actually i graduated last april 24 2013, thankyou for your info, i'll consider sending a letter about my citizenship, but actually my concern is that is there any state/states here in america that doesn't go by the new rules? because i remember when my cousin took the nclex in california , it wasn't that so strict back then. and now she's been working here in kaiser for 3 years.

As a brand 2013 PH grad, you might try the regular CA BON processing if you know for sure you are 100% in compliance with the concurrency rules, as maybe your school got it done properly, if not, then you tried at least.

If you decide it will be a waste of time and money applying in CA, you can look into getting your deficiencies (after the CA ON denial letter arrives) OR if you know the possible deficiencies are (maybe based on previous PH batchmates from the last year), you can take the courses out-of-state as some successful students have done so, here's the story, CLICK here:

SoCalNurse88 got her ATT in CA after 13 months and soon to take the NCLEX-RN exam and there's Lyly who's friends also went out of state to get the classes done and they to got the ATT in CA. By going out of state it may be easier to find the deficient courses.

Hi Everyone,

I graduated last 2011 and I am planning to take the NLE, then NCLEX here in the philippines. Do I really have to take NLE? And if i do go straight for NLCEX do i have to choose the states that i want to work and take the exam required to that state / states...Thank you. Hope to hear from anyone soon...

Mnay states require that you have your local license before you can apply for licensure in that state. You are not applying to take the NCLEX, but rather applying for a nursing license in that state and NCLEX is just part of the process.Yes it is recommended that you apply to the state that you want to work in. It makes no sense to apply to a ststae you don't want to work in.

hi to all.... Im also from the philippines and studied in Our Lady of Fatima University and after I graduated i took right away the NLE even I knew that it doesnt required in NCLEX RN and many of my classmate said that but my prof said its better to take the NLE coz it easy to work with the requirement less time and save money..so i followed my prof and luckily i passed after that I received my visa here..Im resided now here in CA and im already a LVN then plan to take the RN here..So its better to take the NLE exam now for practicality and exp. in board exam eventhough it had a many difference in the NCLEX exam..The CA BON now required to be a passer in NLE coz after i received my NCLEX PN result they sent me a letter that they need the license card and registration before they released the result..so its better to NLE passer before applying in NCLEX.. and I think all states in USA required the SSN start this year I had a friend before that have a prob. with SSN because the board said they cant release the license card (RN ) without the SSN so thats why...thanks[/quote']

Is this true???? Just asking coz I'm here from Cali an immigrant finish my BSN in Phi last 2009 and took my nle and failed. I came here in us last 2011 apply for nclex rn got denied due to cases issues I decided to apply for nclex pn and got eligible and i took my exam last may 2013 and getting good pop up til now.

My question is so once i received my notification letter saying that i passed. BVNPT will ask for my local rn lic in Phi? Even though I explain to them through letter when i filed my application to them??? Thanks.
