GPC Fall 2013 letters

U.S.A. Georgia

I can't believe it. I have read in the past I wouldn't hear until the end of March or April to know if I was accepted. To my very happy surprise, I got my letter in the mail today! Let the games begin.....anyone else here from GPC? Good luck to you all!

Hello. Congratulations to all who were accepted into GPC's Nursing Program last year. I know that GPC receives 500+ applications and only accepts approximately 150 students (At least in 2014, they are accepting 150 students.), so that was a job well done! :) When you were accepted last year, can you give me your stats:

-What classes were you taking at the time or had to finish when you applied into the program?

-What was your science GPA?

-What was your overall GPA of all the classes GPC required)?

-Were you a transfer student when you applied?

-What was your Math, Reading, and Overall TEAS scores (I've heard GPC only looks at those and not Science and English.)?

-Does having a Bachelors give you more points (At other colleges, it gives you more points.)?

Thank you so much.

At the time of being accepted I had all my classes done except two, which I took over summer.

All my sciences were complete, gpa was a 3.0

My overall gpa was about a 3.2 I believe

I transferred to GPC when I applied and took one semester there when I was accepted. Most of my pre reqs were done at another school.

My math and reading teas was a 90%, and my overall score was a 79%

I don't think having a bachelor's really matters, I did not.

Good luck to you!

Thank you aelmo14. :)

Sorry i just saw this! Yes I am applying for 2014...the wait is awful! I have a 3.8 science GPA and a 3.3 overall and my TEAS score is 89...I'm stressing about my overall GPA! You may have already seen this but there is another thread called GPC Hopefuls 2014 (or something close to that) with a bunch of people applying this year. Good luck!

Thanks milesamelia for the information. Did you apply for the Fall 2014 program or will you apply for a future program?

I did go back to read some of the past posts and have concluded:

-You can apply after taking A & P 1.

-I saw some science GPAs.

-I saw some overall GPAs.

-You can be a transfer student.

-You have to meet minimum requirement of 63 (now probably 65) on Math, Reading, & overall TEAS.

-I didn't see any indication that a Bachelor degree helps to be accepted.

It does look like the bar is raised on the GPAs & TEAS each year due to applicants' increased GPAs & TEAS scores (to be more competitive).

If you guys had to estimate, how much money did it cost to prepare for the nursing program? With the cost of uniforms, shoes CPR class, shots, background check, and etc being taken into consideration.. We haven't got our follow up email yet and I was just wondering.. All of that stuff seems pretty expensive. Also, did you guys get the books from GPC bookstore?

Hi Bridge36,

In the follow up letter we got last year, they estimated the 'start up' cost would be about $800. Well, that can be cut if you DO NOT buy your books from the school. Go to Amazon or google the book title and find a cheaper place. I purchased mine used from other students or online with Amazon from individual sellers. I hope this helps.

Wow.. well I will definitely be buying my book from another source.. Without counting the price of the books, how much did you spend on everything else?

You can cut the cost of the uniform by buying used ones. At orientation they normally sell used ones.

Sorry to hijack, but if anyone is interested in selling their Biol 1603 book PM me please!

Hi everyone I just took the teas 5 today and I did not do so well and surprisingly it's math that is my lowest score, next is ready. I actually did good in science. I did not get to finish my math part, are we not allowed to use computer's calculator??? Because it was so hard trying to do everything my hand or mentally. I had to triple check my answers that's why I ran out of time. It was ridiculous. I must admit it was my fault for not studying much either. I heard gpc requires a really high score. Any advice? When should I take it again? Should I apply after taking the teas again? What other school should I apply? I have A's in a&p 1&2. Currently taking micro at another college. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks :(
