GPC Nursing Program - Fall 2015
I am also in the 2nd semester at GPC and it is tough but very doable! As far as the book they recommend, I didn't buy it but if you struggle with tests I would recommend it. The girl that sits next to me knew the material very well but was struggling with the tests because she would read too much into the questions...she ordered the book and read it and her score on her next test went up almost a full letter grade! I would definitely recommend using the ATI books they give you, especially in 2nd semester...I use that and and a book called "Reasonings and Rationales: Medical Surgical Nursing" and have been able to get by without doing any of the textbook reading. Good luck everyone!

Best ASN nursing program near Atlanta
I am currently enrolled in GPC's nursing program and I really like it. There are definitely some professors that are better than others but I think they all want to see you succeed. There are a lot of good resources if you need extra help as well. I think the biggest complaint people that don't like it have is things are sometimes thrown on you at the last minute. You have to be flexible. I've found though that if you have a conflict and you actually talk to someone about it they are very accommodating...I would recommend it...and the program is only offered at the Clarkston campus. Let me know if you have any questions you want answered.

I got Origins by WonderWink from a SCRUBS store and I love them! They fit so much better than the school pants and they were cheaper! I think I got them for $15.

I got some of the Origins pants by Wonderwink...I'm not sure which fit exactly but they're more of a boot cut and fit like normal pants! They're a lot cuter and they were cheaper to boot:)

I ended up going with mediums after reading what some people said...I'm glad I did with the top because I have broad shoulders and it fit perfectly! The pants are a different story...its like they're way too big in the butt and thighs, but almost tapered at the bottom...and I got a long based on their inseam description but they are WAY too long! I ended up returning them and I got a pair of different white scrub pants from a SCRUBS store...hopefully that will be ok because I think the school uniform pants just aren't going to fit me! I think a small would have been snug in the waist...I love the ones I found at the store though! Is everyone going to Boot Camp? I can only go on the 6th.

Just wanted to make sure everyone saw the email from the school with the updated book list and the information that a student is selling a never worn large uniform top, bottom, and lab coat:-)

I ordered my stuff too!!! I think our photo id we will get from the bookstore but the name tag we order from Meridy's...did you order the one they had with our items? I forgot to order it at first but I contacted customer service and they were very nice and added it so I wouldn't have to pay separate shipping! As for the pocket protector, the only thing I could think of that they meant were the white pouches that hold your stuff...I ordered one of those so hopefully that is what they were talking about...I didn't order any other pocket protector:) I'm ready for it to get here so I can try on my uniform!

I was thinking about doing that too but the versions I found were expensive! You would think they would be cheap since there is no paper:) Let me know if you find them cheap!

What "suggested" books are people getting? I was able to find most of them used for pretty cheap on either chegg or amazon, but the Psychiatric book the cheapest I could find was $50 used...it was highlighted on the list so I didn't know if that meant it was strongly recommended? I don't want to buy it if we don't really need it! For those of you who haven't bought books yet I suggest Chegg and Amazon...I got my Fundamentals book on Amazon for $25...it is used but its in great shape! And most of the suggested reading books are on one or the other for around $5 a piece.

How tall are you? I think I read on their site that a "regular" is 30" so I was going to get a "long" which is 32"...does that seem right based on your pants? That is good to know about the chest and arm area being tight that is where I normally have problems so I will probably order up!

You shouldn't have to have them again as long as the dates are listed on the form the nursing department provided and a physician signs off on it...I knew I had had my immunizations but I had never had the blood work done to show that I was actually immune...I couldn't remember about Hep B so it was a pleasant surprise that I was! The good thing with the uniforms is Meridy's gives you 1 free exchange where you don't have to pay shipping for the new item, but you still have to pay to ship the old one back...I wish they had actual stores!!! Wow that's crazy! I haven't looked at the site bc I was hoping to go into a store in sugarloaf mills mall to try on before I order so I got it right but I guess chances are they wouldn't carry meridys :-/ those sizes are bigger than I imagined. I'm usually a size 6. Hmmmmm doesn't even sound right to purchase an XS....O_o. I'm getting a physical and blood drawn for that on Monday I was going to bring my forms to show and see what's needed. Ive been tested for all these things before and have proof do I have to have it again? Sorry if that's a stupid question lol the only thing I haven't gotten is Hep B I think.

I got mine through Kaiser because thats who my insurance is with...I had blood drawn yesterday morning and have already gotten the results for Hep B and Rubella...waiting on varicella, measles and mumps...I'm not sure what the typical wait time would be elsewhere. If you look on Meridy's site they will give you a break down of what numerical size coordinates with their sizes...the small pants are equal to a women's 8-10 which seemed really big to me! It just dawned on me though that they are unisex so that is probably why:) I normally wear a large, but I tried on my old roommates pants that are similar and her small fit me perfectly...I am 5'6 and wear a 10 just to give you an idea...hoping to be an 8 by the time school starts though haha:)

I am currently doing part 1 online...I'm planning on doing the skills session portion some time in the next couple of weeks, probably either in Atlanta or Duluth. I am also waiting on the results for my titers. Has anyone ordered uniforms yet? Is it just me or does it seem like they run REALLY big?

I verified with GPC that slip on shoes are fine, as long as they have a back!

What about shoes? Does anyone know what they mean by clogs? I'm hoping they mean backless because I already have white danskos that I was planning on wearing...I got them super cheap on ebay though so at least if I have to buy tennis shoes I'm not out too much!
