Hi Bridge36, In the follow up letter we got last year, they estimated the 'start up' cost would be about $800. Well, that can be cut if you DO NOT buy your books from the school. Go to Amazon or google the book title and find a cheaper place. I purchased mine used from other students or online with Amazon from individual sellers. I hope this helps.

Hey Amanda! (aelmo14), Did we sit on the back row together? If so, HI! I spoke to my doctor yesterday about that test and he said it is normal for there to be two obviously not the answer, but two that will be possibly correct. Like the instructor told us, we have to look closely at the wording of the questions. I too am concerned, but ready to jump in and get my feet wet. We can do this!

I liked how they had the days planned for us. I stayed for all three and glad I did. I am still nervous about learning so much in a short amount of time (i.e. all the reading for the first test). I just wish I knew who you guys were so we could have connected during the camp.

Aelmo14, This is what the form said" White nursing shoes (white leather tennis shoes are acceptable with very little color trim, preferably white trim). Clogs are not allowed. So, I would think a little color would be fine. Most of it will be covered by the pants. JMHO =)

I am nervous too. I don't know why I thought school started the week after boot camp. Looks like we have until July 19th. I planned on getting a 'plastic' watch as some areas of a hospital you would not be able to wear a metal watch. The ones I saw at GPC/Clarkston were plastic looking, not metal and they are not only white. They had a pink one! =) Let me know what shoes you get. I need to get that done in the next week so I don't have to worry about it anymore.

Aelmo14, Did you ever get shoes or a watch....? I am still trying to figure out what to get. I did reorder my uniform top for the next size up. It came quickly and a was smooth transaction or, I guess I will see that it was smooth, if I wasn't charged (since it was an exchange) when I get my credit card. =) Are you ready for Boot Camp?

Hey ladies, I took my forms to the nursing department today. So, all I have to do now is get shoes and a watch. About the shots, I have read and heard that they (the nursing dept) understands that flu shots come out in the Fall and having all three Hep B shots is almost impossible before school starts. That is why we will probably have to sign a form saying we know we do not have the necessary shots but will have them completed as they are avaiable or (as in the third Hep B shot) as scheduled (six months after the second). Welcome Nightingale2b and Lprice26. We will be meeting each other soon at 'Boot Camp'.

I only ordered one because GPC didn't suggest otherwise. They only mentioned to get two uniforms. I don't know how accurate the studies will be for us, but someone in 2012 stated the first test will be over the following chapters (their test was in Sept). The chapters: 1,17, 21, 27 and pages 198-210, 222-228, 55-59, 1521-1538. Like is said, don't know if that will still be the same for us, but early reading can't hurt...right?

Hey ladies, I will be there all three days too. I ordered my name badge from Meridy's. Can you get over how heavy and large that book is? OMG, we will need to have a Chiropractor ready to adjust our backs after carrying that one around. I did see on other posts (from previous years) the pages that have been recommended that we start reading. Since we are going on vacation next week, I plan to bring my book and read while on plane or in the car.

Ladies, Have you guys ordered your uniforms and supplies yet? I got everything this week. The only problem, my top is too small. I ordered a xs (meant to order a small) and it is too small. I will have to return it and reorder for the next size up. I ordered a small in the pants and they must run slightly big as I usually wear a size 4 and they are a little big on me. Not bad though. I still need to get shoes. Have any of you ordered/purchased shoes? If so, where and what type did you get? Shoes and a non-metal watch with a second hand are the only two things I have left to purchase. Thanks!

Ok-bad news-I can't get any more financial aid because I have too many credit hours because of my Bachelor's and credits working toward nursing school. I went up there to make sure my change major form was processed today. I also found out only the nursing school/admins can change our majors from pre-nursing to nursing. I also took my 12-year-old son with me to look around the campus. We went into the CH building (used for nursing school) and I meet up with one of the instructors for the simulations lab (I think). Anyways, I told her my biggest fear was having to start an I.V. on someone. (I have been through chemo and the memories are not great for me). Good news-they do NOT teach that at GPC. So, BRING IT ON! I think I will look into filing for any scholarship in which I may qualify.

Heading there now....hope the lines aren't too long...UGH!

When did you mail your form in? I think I will be driving out to Clarkston today to make sure they get it in time. I faxed it this morning, but wonder if it will sit in the fax machine because today is the first day of registration and they are crazy busy. Tried calling to see if they got it and was on hold for 30 min, twice. I think driving out there will be faster and I will feel better knowing they have it.
