gpa to get into nursing school?

hello everyone...i'm currently taking some prerequistes to get into nursing school. i have already have an undergraduate degree in accounting, so i haven't taken a science class in a LONG time. i don't know exactly what kind of grades i'm going to get, so i was wondering what kind of gpa did everyone have to get into nursing school.

I understand how you feel. I have a degree in accounting too. After 8 years, I decided to go back to school.

The first science class I took was Biology 189 (basic biology), I got a C :( I was very upset.

At this point though after getting used to my study habits again, I have been getting good grades. My school requires 3.0 to get in the program but I'm not taking chances, I have 3.53. I hope to keep it that way (or bring it up) with 3 more classes to take before I could apply.

My school requires no less than a 2.75 to be up for selection. With that being said, I've heard a lot of students saying they were not accepted and had that GPA or a little higher. Regardless, the higher your GPA, the higher up on the list you are. I don't feel comfortable with anything below a 3.0 honestly. I'm busting my ass trying raise to a 3.86. The only way that's happening is if I make A's in my last 2 pre-reqs coming up. I know I can do it though.

All in all, all schools have a minimum GPA to be able to apply for selection, but you shouldn't be trying to keep your head barely above water. :)

I got accepted into my university's nursing program with a 3.34 GPA straight from high school.

The nursing program requires us to maintain a minimum GPA of a 2.5 every semester.

My GPA is a 3.89 :D

My gpa is a 3.4 and my school (for bsn) is a top 100 NS. They also base their criteria off of NLN pax rn scores too and gpa in just your pre-reqs.

always try to go higher than what the school wants. There will be competition

I'm still doing prereqs, but my school requires you to have a minimum GPA of 3.0 for your first degree, to be considered for the 2nd degree accelerated BSN program. Not sure what the average GPA is for students actually admitted, though.

My school requires 2.5 minimum to apply, but next year are also moving to a points based system where they assign points to grades received in each prerequisite, your GPA, and score on the TEAS. I have a 3.04 right now (a few lazy semesters when I was younger) so will be working my butt off in my last 4 classes to get that up! They will only be accepting 16 students each Fall. Gulp.

Still in my pre-reqs but here in Oklahoma at my community college it is a 2.5 gpa.

CC in Minnesota. They want 3.o GPA for a science classes and 2.5 average.

I have 4.0 and I believe that helped me to get into the program.

The school I applied to doesn't even have a minimum GPA. However, they won't take anything less than 3.8 GPA. I was erading in the local paper that they have to turn away many 3.9 students because there's too much competition.

I am in Tampa Bay, applying for fall to SPC. The "minimum" listed on application form is 2.5 with only pre-reqs grades measured. However, it is an extremely competitive school. Spring 2012 had 600 apply with the average grade of 3.6. Fall 2011 the average gpa accepted was 3.9. My gpa is 3.9 and I am not sure I am going to get in for fall 2012

Laurie01 - I have heard the average/minimum gpa for HCC was 3.6. That is my back up plan if I don't get in for fall!
