Golden West College Fall 2019

Published

Hello fellow fall 2019 applicants!

God willing, we will find out if we made it into the fall 2019 cohort at Golden West the latter part of April. I have been waiting for someone to start a post so we could all "calmly" wait this process out together! I know I am not the only one out here so please join me as we "patiently" wait for our acceptance emails/mail! All positive vibes, I am low key an internal wreck, if you cannot tell by the words I strategically placed within "quotes", lol.

Hey everyone,

Reading your replies makes me consider if I am even applicable. I keep telling myself positive thoughts and imagining myself in those turquoise scrubs. I applied with only 38 points. I had a 2.6 bio GPA and 68% on my TEAS. Any advice to help with my anxiety.

@Courtcat if you don't get in to gwc maybe apply to a school that has a chronological waiting list and schools with lotteries. I know Santa Ana college nursing program this year took applicants with 82 points and above

I would consider retaking the bio prereqs to boost your GPA, and it will only help you when you get into a program because you'll be an expert on those topics that the nursing program will then build upon! You could also retake your TEAS for a higher score. Getting certified in a health care profession and getting some work experience gives you extra points too. Just don't give up, there are so many things you can do to increase your points!

I agree with Brandi. Also, maybe you can consider going into a LVN program and then bridging over to the RN. The LVN is basically the 1st year of RN school, so after you complete that, you would only have one more year for ADN. I know that pasadena college has a LVN program and if you complete their LVN program in good standing and also have all the requirements completed for RN application (which you already have complete) you are guaranteed admission into their RN program! Maybe you can check their program out.

Thank you both of you. IfI retake my prerequisites that would have to be at another school. I have volunteer experience I couldn't add to my application because it wasn't complete yet and in the meantimeI decided to take pharmacology, EKG interp and Pathophysiology. Maybe the next application period will accept those and give me a few extra points.

Question of the month: will we get our letters this week?!

What about starting your BSN early with CSU Fullerton? How does that work and is it a guarantee that students are able to do it if they meet certain qualifications? I saw something on the nursing website about it with the "roadmap to BSN" but it doesn't really explain how it works

This is a CSU program and it allows you to get a head start on your BSN during the summer following your 1st semester. There is no guarantee you get into the program. You apply to get in like any other program. If you do get accepted, and you do the Summer program, you still have to get passing grades in order to move forward in the BSN program after you get your RN license. The Summer program is intense. It's a 10 week summer course that you start 1 week after your ADN Spring Semester & you finish 1 week prior to your ADN Fall semester starting. The Summer program prices are also more per unit than what the prices are during Spring/Fall. Those prices increase with online classes. In the end it only knocks off 1 semester, so it just depends on how much of a hurry you are in, and are you fine with not having a summer vacation. I hope that helps.

?????? Hoping we do! If anyone applied to Long Beach City College, I heard they are sending their letters out by the end of this week.

Just asked when they are sending out letters! They said later this week or on Monday

Yay!!! Good luck everyone!

I didn't apply to Santa Ana JC but a friend did and I attached an image of their selection stats:

I did apply to a school in San Diego however with 81 points and was denied because they said my points were too low. ?
