I agree with Brandi. Also, maybe you can consider going into a LVN program and then bridging over to the RN. The LVN is basically the 1st year of RN school, so after you complete that, you would only have one more year for ADN. I know that pasadena college has a LVN program and if you complete their LVN program in good standing and also have all the requirements completed for RN application (which you already have complete) you are guaranteed admission into their RN program! Maybe you can check their program out.
  3. As far as the "interview" I do not think its the typical interview we are expecting. I know that at another nursing school they called this activity an interview but in actuality it was a group activity/exercise where a problem/scenario is given to the entire group and they must work together to solve the problem. The faculty stands around and takes notes of how each person interacts with one another. For example, who takes the lead, who is more quiet and follows, how do each person communicate, etc. The written portion I am assuming will be the questionnaire they gave out to pass participants that consist of questions like why do u want to be a nurse, how do u manage your time, can u handle demands of program etc. Because it is only one hour it cannot be a typical interview. As far as clothes, I am going to call and ask tomorrow because if its this type of setting I want to wear scrubs. I do not "really" know if it will be like this, so do not get mad at me if its totally different, lol.

Oh that is great! I am so glad you responded, so now I can drill you, lol. How many points did you have to get into the nursing program? How is the work load, for example are you given a test each week? Where is your clinical site, and how often do you attend clinicals (hours of clinicals)? Do the instructors support the students, is there anyone we should "beware" of, lol? As far as schedule changes, what do you mean? What is your typical schedule, like when would we be in class and clinical Mon-Fri, and for about how long? I thank you in advance for catering to my nervous array of interview questions...
  5. The emails were for the RN program. On the website it says there will be interviews and then notifications of acceptance letters mailed by May 15. The interviews are on May 3. I hope this provides more clarity.
  6. I dont think its a lie. There will be people that turn down the interview because they got accepted to other programs so they may invite others to interview as a result. The people that were given the first set of interviews have until April 29 to accept or decline so I am sure they will send out additional emails based on the responses.

On the bright side we have about 2 more weeks to go (no sarcasm intended).
  8. I got an interview too. I picked the morning session. Good luck!
  9. The website says May 15

Wow, I did not know all of that, great info about the masters programs. I am more than confident that you will get into a program with your stats! And yes, that was one of the reasons why I wanted to start the thread so if we all get in we can collaborate and support each other through it. I spend so much time at work with nurses and they all speak about the importance of establishing good relationships with others in nursing school. I know there will be times that each of us may want to give in to the pressure, or someone may have missed something in their notes, or we may all need a break and near to head to the nearest bar to just hang (even though I do not drink I can be the destinated sober driver ). The point is, it is very important to have social support networks as a nursing student.

I am very much interested in getting, or at least attempting to get my BSN while working on the ADN. Most hospitals, especially magnet hospitals are more inclined to hire BSN graduates.

I have another coworker that is currently in the program at Saddleback. I heard from her and this other guy that currently attends there that it is a kick a** program and they throughly prepare you to be a nurse! The first semester is supposely very gruesome, but after that it is less hectic and the schedule is very doable. Also, I see the students at Golden West everyday at my job doing their clinicals on my unit. I do not know what year they are but they are always by themselves with no instructor and they be hustling, very busy, and seem to know what they are doing! I do not think you can go wrong with either program!

My coworker got accepted into the program 2 years ago and they notified her by mail. She also told me that at that time when she applied that they accepted 80 people for fall and spring. She applied for fall admission like how we are doing now, but was offered spring admission. I do not know if they are still selecting students this way, but it gave me more hope.
