  1. I got my acceptance today! For reference, I'm in Costa Mesa. I will be declining my spot since I decided to go with another school. Congratulations to everyone and I wish you all the best of luck on your nursing journeys!
  2. I had the exact same dilemma and was stressing hard about it. I ended up deciding to accept my invitation from saddleback yesterday after doing a little more research. They have a higher NCLEX pass rate and seem to offer more supplemental classes beyond just the core ones we are required to take. If you go on the mysite website, you can look at the class schedule for fall and even see all the clinical locations. Lecture class is only once a week, so that's only one commute to campus. The rest of the time (except the first month-ish of first semester) you are going to the clinical sites. There are hospitals in Newport, Santa Ana, FV, Costa Mesa that they go to, then some in Mission Viejo. I've heard great things about both programs, but my gut was telling me to go with SBC. Hope this helps! If you do decide of SBC I will see you in the fall!
  3. I would consider retaking the bio prereqs to boost your GPA, and it will only help you when you get into a program because you'll be an expert on those topics that the nursing program will then build upon! You could also retake your TEAS for a higher score. Getting certified in a health care profession and getting some work experience gives you extra points too. Just don't give up, there are so many things you can do to increase your points!
  4. What about starting your BSN early with CSU Fullerton? How does that work and is it a guarantee that students are able to do it if they meet certain qualifications? I saw something on the nursing website about it with the "roadmap to BSN" but it doesn't really explain how it works
  5. I got accepted with 78 points!
  6. Thank you for answering all these questions, it's so helpful to have an idea what the schedule is like! I know they have the program set up so you take health and illnesses 1, 2, 3...and so on. Is pharmacology spread throughout each class, or is there an individual pharm class that you take one of the semesters? Is there any sort of preceptorship they offer in the program? Thank you again for letting us bombard you with questions lol.
  7. It does! But according to last years thread, people got letters on April 6th. I'm hanging on to the chance they just say end of April so no one bugs them about when they are sending out letters, but they actually send them earlier
  8. I'm going to be obsessively checking the website all week to see if they've updated it. We are finding out so soon!!! I'm not sure exactly how many spots they have each semester. I assumed it was some where around 50, that seems to be the norm for most of the ADN schools around here
  9. That's wonderful to hear! I know golden west has some agreement with CSU Fullerton where you can take some classes for your BSN through them over the summer while you're getting your ADN with GWC. But then Saddleback has a preceptorship program where it seems like you can request a specialty you want to do for it. Both definitely have their perks!
  10. I believe we are notified by mail
  11. I hope we do too! I applied to Saddleback College and Santa Ana College as well. I'll be happy to get accepted anywhere. Saddleback and GWC are the two I really want to get into though, they both seem to have great programs
  12. I think you missed your calling as a stand up comedian, forget nursing! I need to be your friend in nursing school too, I love your sense of humor. Did you guys apply to any other schools?
  13. omg hahah, this made me laugh out loud and also want to vomit from nerves...a cover letter and headshot?! If I calculated everything correctly, I'm applying with 86 and I thought that would give me a decent shot...sounds like the competition is going to be fierce if this is what we're up against. I have faith for us though!! It's up to the nursing gods now and we did the very best we could to get this far
  14. Hi! I'm right there with you, anxiously waiting for April to roll around. I'm dying to find out if I'll have enough points to be accepted, all the programs seem to get more competitive with each semester
  15. Hi everyone! I've been stalking this board waiting for more people to post, and it has been so slow. I figured it's time to actually contribute. I'm applying with 78 points, fingers crossed that will be enough to get accepted! I also applied to Golden West and Santa Ana college. The points system works in my favor the most for Golden West since work experience is a set amount of points if you have 500+ hours and they give more points for having a 90 or above on the TEAs. I'm only in the 500-999 range for CNA work hours this application period. All that being said, Saddleback is still my first choice. When I turned in my app on Feb. 12, the lady said they had received a lot of apps but not as many as she expected. But she also said they usually get a ton the last day or two. Good luck to everyone! The wait is already kill me!!
