Hello fellow fall 2019 applicants!

God willing, we will find out if we made it into the fall 2019 cohort at Golden West the latter part of April. I have been waiting for someone to start a post so we could all "calmly" wait this process out together! I know I am not the only one out here so please join me as we "patiently" wait for our acceptance emails/mail! All positive vibes, I am low key an internal wreck, if you cannot tell by the words I strategically placed within "quotes", lol.

Hi! I'm right there with you, anxiously waiting for April to roll around. I'm dying to find out if I'll have enough points to be accepted, all the programs seem to get more competitive with each semester

Yes I feel the same way! Let me tell you just how competitive it now is. When I dropped off the application I "accidentally" looked into "The Box" that housed everyone hopes and dreams. I know you know what I am talking about that box that whispered, "Hello, trust me that I will get your application to the nursing office comittee". As I was taking my green receipt as proof of my delivery, my eyes could not help but glance into the tiny hollow opening and I saw this beautiful application. And when I say beautiful, I literally mean "beautiful" application, the girl that applied before me and trusted her documents to "the box" left a freaking cover letter attached to her application and she had what looked like a professionally done head shot with the cover letter! I was like, please forgive my language, but s#it, now I am going up against freaking models, not just regular models but petite, brilliant, I got all my science pre reqs done with a 4.0, TEAS score 99.9%, 10 years work experience acute care, War vet with 2 purple hearts, BS Degree with Masters almost finished and she is PRETTY....Do I have a chance? Lol. So as I was walking out I asked the girl sitting behind the desk, "Are you sure this is where I am suppose to put my application", as I slowly pointed my finger in the direction of "The Box". Not only do we have to worry if we have enough points to be considered for the program but now receptionists are being relaced by cardboard cut-outs and pretty medical prodigies-models are sending their glam shots with their apps. Why did I not think of that? I am sure I could of gotten one of my cute friends to send in a selfie with my application and maybe boasted up my points a bit, lol.

I am applying to GWC's nursing program with either 80 or 82 points - depending on whether or not they accept my language points.

Yes, lets be nurse besties if we both get in, lol! We can laugh and cry our way all they way through school until we graduate! We must think positive and say positive things no matter how nervous and/or anxious we are right now. And if we do not make it in this round, we can try again in Spring! If I calculated my points correctly, I have 81 points.

omg hahah, this made me laugh out loud and also want to vomit from nerves...a cover letter and headshot?! If I calculated everything correctly, I'm applying with 86 and I thought that would give me a decent shot...sounds like the competition is going to be fierce if this is what we're up against. I have faith for us though!! It's up to the nursing gods now and we did the very best we could to get this far

86 points, wow! And you are worried, what for? You got this! I feel like this is one of those auditions for like "America's got talent", "You are the Voice", "Welcome to the World of Dance".... The people on the nursing committee are sitting together behind one of those long tables with all our applications in front of them and that pretty girl's glam shot..."Do they have what it takes to be the next best RN".... applause from the audience, camera shot and close up of the girl with the pretty glam shot.... spot light shines bright on the scores... "We have a 81..." applause, no wait, "We have a 80 or 82, depending if we shall take her language skills", then applause, then camera spins to glam shot of model nurse... " But wait," (angel chiming sound), "Behold the number 86", and the crowd goes freaking wild...Tune in next week to see, "Who will be the next best RN at Golden West", credits run...

I think you missed your calling as a stand up comedian, forget nursing! I need to be your friend in nursing school too, I love your sense of humor. Did you guys apply to any other schools?

My humor is a defense mechanism for stress and anxiety, and Im glad you get me and hopefully it will make all of us that are applying to these programs to just chill out and laugh for a minute. I applied to LA County College of Nursing so Ive been stalking their page on allnurses from beneath the shadows. I really hope we get in because Fall semester is just so competitive! If I do not get in I will try to boast my scores by retaking my TEAS because it was super low. How about you, did you apply any where else?

Just wanted to join the anxious wait with ya’ll! :3 I have also applied to Santa Ana College, Long Beach City College, and Cerritos College, but my first choice is GWC since I’ve been a student here for a while.

Does anyone know how we get notified if we get in or not? Because the receipt (the slip you get after turning in the application) says we won't be notified by email or phone....
