Golden West College ADN Fall 2021

Nursing Students School Programs

Updated:   Published

Hi all! I wanted to start a new thread for those of us who are planning to apply for GWC ADN Program for Fall 2021. I thought we could post any questions, help, or updates.

I will be applying with either 82 or 87 points depending on my TEAS score. Right now I'm hovering in the mid 80s for practice exams, but hoping I can still land in the 90s.

It looks like last semester was really competitive so it's making me nervous.

Hi all! I was checking in on the website to get an idea of the school's new Online Nursing Application. The website says it would have been posted at the end of February, but I can't seem to find it. If any of you have found the link, would you mind sharing? Thanks a bunch!

I haven’t seen them post a link for the application either. Right now I’m just gathering all my documents (work letter, transcripts, etc). I haven’t emailed them yet about it, have you? I figure I would wait until closer to when the application period to see. I noticed they updated the point system and that should help some people with an extra 5 points.

Hi All,

Another fall 2021 applicant here.  I emailed the nursing admissions office in regard to the fall 2021 application and this is what they said: "It will be available by mid-march (by the end of next week). It will be an online submission link. We are no longer accepting paper applications. At this time, you should gather your documents for the Multi-Criteria Guidelines, make copies of your unofficial transcripts and save them as PDF files, send all official transcripts to GWC’s Admissions and Records Office (if you haven’t already done so). If you are not a student at GWC, complete an application to the college, available on the website ( www.goldenwestcollege.edu/enrollment/admissions/application/). You will need a student ID# and CCCD student email address to apply to the nursing program."

Good luck everyone! ??‍⚕️

Hi everyone! I'm currently applying for the Fall 2021 ADN program. I was wondering if we had to submit our AP Scores? I scored a 3 on AP European history, and I need to fill out a form to get that sent. Is it required for admission into GWC?

I don’t think you need to submit those for nursing tbh. There isn’t a requirement for European History in the Multi-Criteria Guidelines. If you got a passing score in something like the Foreign Language component or maybe one of the prerequisite classes, then submitting the scores would make sense.

Phew! That's good to hear. I spoke with one of my counselors, and she said to send it in. I followed up with the question of whether or not it would disqualify my application.I am waiting for her response, but I'm hoping she says it won't. The reason why I'm concerned is because Collegeboard takes 4 weeks to get those score reports sent to the colleges and our deadline is coming up soon.

My application was disqualified at CSUF because I did not submit my AP scores. :c

Please keep us posted on the response. I have passed AP English Language but did not bother with requesting official scores to be sent. It shows up on my CSULB transcripts, but I don’t think it’s necessary as I have already been awarded my BA. As far as I’ve read, the site, FAQs, and MC guidelines didn’t specify about sending in scores for AP (other than the Foreign Language if you passed with a 3 or above, in which case, I would definitely send in official scores). With the foreign language, I am using high school transcripts, so I ordered and had them sent in advance. I read the GWC won’t be updating mailed in transcripts until Summer due to COVID. Hopefully, this won’t be an issue for me.

Were you applying to CSUF as undergrad or ABSN? I paid the fee but didn’t submit my application in time ?

It looks like they also accept AP scores for English, but I’ve already taken the English course that fulfills the prerequisite, so I’m not going to send in the AP scores for that.

I will definitely keep you updated! I am hoping to hear back from her tomorrow. But yeah, I read over the application and looked at the orientation powerpoint and it did not say anything about sending in our AP scores. I applied to the CSUF ABSN program. On CSUF's  website, it said it was an optional upload. I took that as a " Oh, I don't have to submit it then." But nah, I had to because I passed AP Euro :'c ahaha

Hey everyone! ? This is my first time posting after years of lurking this website since high school LOL! I’ll be applying again to GWC for the fourth time. I’ve been rejected three times in the past two years and I’m starting to feel extremely defeated, especially after seeing friends getting into nursing school. My points have approved a bit but I worry it’s not enough. I feel like if I get rejected again it’s a sign from the universe to change my plans ?

Wishing everyone good luck!
