Go away...is not generally true!

Published

Is 1.00 am and I am a foreign nurse who work in US and instead to sleep I stay here to write... for YOU! Why because I read the topic "go away foreign nurses" and I am dizzy and deep upset!

And I will explain you why without making a subjective case from it.

PHRASE OF THE DAY: ALL WE ARE DIFFERENT so you need to find your way!

You could not find two pinoy the same, neither two americans the same, or neither two people, dosen't matter from where, the same. But are people who can think or not, looooool! Good or bad! Life is good or bad!

Americans don't love immigrants.... FALSE! Loving hearts americans open minds ones, love imigrants, help immigrants. Others no!

Do you think that all immigrant nurses are good... NO! So how ALL americans could love ALL immigrant nurses?

Do you think that all americans are bad? NO! So how you could even belive that if you are not welcomed in one part you will not be welcomed all over...is not true!

ALL is a word for ALL nurses forum and neither here...:chuckle:D. We are different , you need to find your way, your path, your friends, your AMERICANS, LIKE YOU! And belive me, like a foreign nurse here I meet a lot of nurses from all over...and a lot of americans...you need to belive that ARE GOOD AMERICANS here, because for this you came here... FOR GOOD ONES!

Some of them may be will not like you, will push you, hurt you make your life a mess... just because you are different... but are so many others....who are there FOR YOU! Belive in good souls and heart... finally you will find your way.

Yes is true you will hear and fell hurting "go away" but also you will hear and fell the hugs with "you are welcome..." is just to find the people! Stay away from others....

America is beuatifull and are beuatifull souls americans.... find them!:heartbeat:heartbeat:heartbeat

I have re-read all the posts in this thread, and I really don't find anything rude, hostile, or critical. A forum is, by definition, "open discourse." No one is forcing anyone to read this thread or any other.

The OP spoke of feeling welcomed by the Americans she has met. Others spoke of good relationships with the Russian and African nurses they have worked with. Others, myself included, have expressed situations in which groups of foreign nurses have intentionally or unintentionally excluded others, by repeatedly disregarding "English only" rules.

As an American, if I were to move to another country, I would be expected to follow the social norms of that culture. I wouldn't wear a tank top and shorts walking down the streets of Kabul because it would be considered inappropriate. In an American workplace, speaking a foreign language in front of others who do not understand that language is considered rude. There is nothing hostile or critical about pointing that out. In fact, it could be considered a positive thing--some might even consider it helpful to know what behaviors are considered offensive in their new "host" culture.

Ahh but they cannot expect Americans to know that. While both cultures should give a little those looking to move to another country (any country) need to more giving.

To do anything else as a guest is rude in every culture.

That was what my original post was trying to say.

Like I said, when I visited Japan I behaved modestly even though I am not modest. When I visited Africa I treated everyone older than me, eve by only a year or two older, with the utmost respect as that is the way there. In Spain, I let people do the kissing on the cheek thing despite the fact that I consider it gross simply because it is their custom.

I don't see anything wrong with expecting the same treatment and respect. That's just me though.

Yeah.

If you go to a place where everybody has one leg, you should also learn to walk with one leg.................otherwise you may find that you aren't welcome in that society..........Not respecting others and expecting to be treated with respect is not only rude but insane.............

Cutting off a leg is not a good example. Going to the mid east and covering your head is another good example. This is an international forum. When I travel to other countries I do research local customs and try to abide them

I will not repeat what I find offensive since I have done this in previous posts.

I have been to Lebanon. While I was there I dressed modestly liek the rst of the men. I even bought local clothing.I met quite a few people and almost all of them said they were surprised at my move to fit in with their customs.

That pretty much says it all.

As to the one legged country. You don't have to learn to walk with one leg but it would be quite rude to expect everyone to move out of the way because you like to run. ;)

Man, this thread started out so nice. Then it just degenerated into yet another list of what hideously rude things those damn foreigners do.

I didn't understand your point, Starbin, because this thread was talking about being welcoming. You then posted about sitting in a room with people talking different languages. I am still not sure I understand the original post. I do understand that you were trying to be disparaging about the foreigners being impolite to you.

Yes, of course people who immigrate to the US and work in US facilities should stick to English only. Duh. Although it does amuse me when people here (often) don't understand a whole sentence that I say, even when I repeat myself. I'm like "Uh, I'm speaking English, as I have all my life. How is that you cannot understand me!???". At times I have had to WRITE DOWN what I'm trying to say!

Funny, where was this outrage on the thread about all the rude things Americans do???

In fact, point out one 'disparaging' remark.

dis-par-age

1. To speak of in a slighting or disrespectful way; belittle.

2. To reduce in esteem or rank.

There haven't been any...

There is no comment on this thread about anything that Americans do.

Your comment, on the other hand, is not constructive: "foreigners ARE welcome but are not always the most welcoming people. Quite often they keep themselves separate".

You simply can't say "foreigners" are any type of people. People are people, wherever they are from. Some are insular and exclusive, some are shy, some are adaptable and friendly. It's just not a function of nationality, and to make such a comment is ignorant.

Untrue... There is a long and historic trend for non Americans to emigrate and live in insular communities. It's a fact of life here in America. While communities are integrating now it is a new process.

How do you think we have areas like 'Chinatowns' and 'Little Italies' and such in EVERY major city.

Also, while people are 'different' they do generally have commonalities based on a culture. That's why it's called a culture.

My comment was neither ignorant nor untrue. Your attempt to denigrate me is nonconstructive though. Don't try to assume I am speaking of all 'foreigners' in some generic way. I specifically mentioned that they 'foreigners' I was speaking of were the ones I have had contact with.

Your post is the first negative one on this thread... Ironic I think. ;)

BTW - I have spent more of my life out of America than in America, most of my mannerisms and behavior are modeled on outside sources so let's not try to use the rude, ignorant American meme. It's passe...

One of the biggest issues that has been reported to the Admin Team is that US nurses are now coming into the International forum, responding in posts and taking over the conversation, not allowing the International nurses to have their say. Please be mindful of that fact and how this perception is making International nurses feel unwelcome in this forum....minimize comments to one plus follow-up in this area would be appreciated.

Thanks for your understanding...
