Ghostly presences in the hospitals?

One of the weirdest things I have heard of happened in the ICU where I used to work. They were coding this patient for a certain amount of time with his heart starting and stopping again. It was getting hot so they opened up the window to which had mini blinds on it. No air was coming through due to no wind while they kept on going. They said the moment the patient went totally asystolic the last time the blinds shuttered. Freaked everyone out like it was the persons spirit leaving out the window through the blinds.

There have been other threads dealing with this topic, and I remember one poster saying some people leave a window open when death is imminent, so the soul can move out of the room. They mentioned the same as you, that curtains have moved (even with the window closed) at just the time of the patient's passing.

I always thought souls could go thru walls, windows, etc. But then, I never interviewed one to inquire of its limitations. :)

I've smelled death in a hospital. I walked past someone's room and this overpowering sweet smell hit me, with an undertone of something rotten. When I passed the room again later, the smell was gone-- no idea if the patient had passed away, or the emergency had ended.

The one place I always feel a presence in is our local hospital's Chapel-- it feels as if people are sitting with me in there.

I used to see a nun who had died in a hospital I worked in. This was on the night shift mostly and coincided with a death in the facility each time. She never talked, just walked down the hall, nodded when you approached her.. Each time I turned to say good-day sister, she was gone. This was never spooky, just after it happened and I realized it must have been a spirit.

The long term care facility I work in now was originally an orphanage. When someone is about to die another resident will tell of talking to two children. A boy and a girl, they come to visit at odd hours...He sits on the floor and she stands against a wall. They are dirty, appear as though they have been playing in the mud. We had one resident that cried all night because he saw the children and was sure he was going to die that night. He didn't die but someone else did a few rooms from him.

I also had one incident when working as a paramedic..a cardiac patient with severe chest pain talked of all the spirits in the ambulance while taking her to the hospital one afternoon. Commented on how many people had died in that ambulance, she even described a few that I remembered. I assured her that things were going to be fine, we would have her at the hospital soon. As we pulled into the parking lot she sat up, gasped, grabbed her chest and died. We entered the ER doing CPR and she didnt recover. I still get chills talking about that one. She really didn't look that bad, just couldn't control the pain, vitals were not bad, EKG showed some first degree block and occasional PVC and PAC but nothing that looked fatal.

I am a CNA in LTC in NY. I recently had a resident pass who I truly loved. She was 97. I was off the day she went and the next day I arrived to find the little sign on her door gone (which read her name) I knew she had gone then.

That evening we put to bed her roommate..who is immobile but combative. She went right to sleep. It felt funny being in the room since my dear resident had departed. I went out to the nurses station to find the call bell going off the hook...I had goose bumps all over my body walking down the dark corridor..I started taking one step inside the room when I heard "NURSE!!!!!!!" in the high pitched voice only the previous resident could have achieved. I managed to get my fur up enough to check on the other...but as soon as I got out the door my tail was running and all my co-workers saw my hair litterally standing straight up

eerie! but I loved that resident and she knows it so I am sure she would do me no harm

I worked in an LTC many years ago. There was this one room and this one bed where residents seemed to die within 2 weeks. It seemed they would put any kind of resident in that bed and they would die soon. I remember when we put yet another new patient in that bed. The daughter was talking to me and making sure I understood that her father was a "no code" and that to just "let him go" I felt like saying "Don't worry. He's in the perfect bed for that. Sure enough, he was dead within a week. :uhoh21:

Reading about quantum entanglement and how they now think it affects the macroscopic world as well as the quantum world and these stories suddenly don't look so weird.

I've had a few residents die in my LTC, and I havent' felt anything weird or ghostly. However, I also don't believe in the supernatural or anything like that, so perhaps my mind doesn't play tricks on me in that manner.

For a minute I had to make sure that you were not from Indiana, because a resident at our facility used to see the children and would get all worked up. She has passed now, but that is so very weird. And yes, everytime the children would come someone would pass, and it's not always the people you would expect to pass.
