Hi everyone. I know there have been quite a few new posters in the last while. I though it would be great to have a little introduction thread. Give us all a chance to say a little about ourselves and what has brought us to nursing. Well I am 37 years on the earth. I have to lovely daughters who are 12 and 9. I am married for a second time to a wonderful man for our 4 year this past August 15th. I decided to persue nursing more than three years ago. I wanted to do it for years but it took a long time to get the nerve up. I have been going to school on and off for a couple of years. I took some of my highschool classes over again and I also had to take my GED as I quit school as a know it all teenager. I love school now and feel the time is right for me. I am so excited about starting on September 3. I am going for my Associates degree in Nursing. Good luck to everyone this year. May we all be successful. I know once school starts that my online time will be limited but I will try to keep up as best as I can.

Take care everyone!:)

Good Luck to you rhona1 ! How excited you must be starting a new journey !!

I'm not new but just wanted to say Hi and good luck ! :nurse:

I am Julie, a graduated LPN waiting to take my boards...

Have 4 children still at home: 16, 14, 9 and 7.

Have 3 dogs, 1 cat, 4 birds, 3 hamsters and a fish.

Came to nursing after many years of wanting to, but just never had the nerve or finances or brains to get off my duff and do something about it!

I will be going on to get ASN, and hope to graduate by 2004.

Good Luck to all you who are starting out!

And continued good luck to al of you who are starting again! :)

Hi, I'm Ana. I just turn 31. Been married for 14 years on Sep 3(yes, I got married when I was 17, my hubby was 19 ) Have 2 kids, a boy 9 and a girl 3 1/2. One dog,( a golden 1 1/2yr.) Always liked the medical field. When I was in high school, I left the morning classes and started going to Adult High School, and in the morning I went to Medical Assistant School. I finished both around the same time, and started doing the required 3 months practice at a Podiatrists office. After those 3 months, they hired me, so while I was working I started going to college to get my pre- reqs for nursing, I had a few credits when I got pregnant w/ my son, and everything was put on hold. I'm going back to school this Fall( I start on the 26) to fullfill my long time dream of being a NURSE:)

Hey there,

My name is Shannon, and I'm 31, I have two boys, ages 8 and 5, soon to be 9 and 6!! I've been married for 13 years, so yes, I was married at 18, he was 21!

I have a bachelor's in elementary education, but I was always interested nursing. I've been a stay-at-home mom since my youngest was about 5 months old. but slowly working on the pre-reqs for nursing. (Seems in my first degree I took all the wrong choices in the pre-reqs!!)

I have orientation tomorrow and then classes start on Monday!! I'm pretty excited. I'm going for an associates right now, but plan to later bridge to a bachelor's.

Hi...

I am 26, no kids... 2dogs and 2 cats... A wonderfully supportive husband.. Been married for 2yrs this past July, but have been together since 1994...

Well when I graduated highschool in 94, I really had NO clue what I wanted to do... Took some pre-reqs for business, accounting changed my mind for that... So then I said Nursing sounds good... I started a nursing program in 97, and at that time, I just wasn't ready for the dedicatiion that it took, so I quit... I graduated in May 2000 with an Associates in Veterinary Technology... Worked at a clinic for a while.... Realized that a 9/hr job wasn't gonna cut it... So I had always thought about nursing again and said what the h*ll.. I am ready... Wasn't expecting to get in so quick, but I did..

Started my 2nd semester of an Associates program this past Monday (19th)... We are learning Urinary Caths and Sterile dressings at the moment...

I also work on the weekends at a local hospital as a PCA on an Orthopedic floor... :)

Welcome all NEW peeps :)

Hello everyone, My name is Debi and I 39. I have two children, a daughter who is 4 and a son who is 21 months. I have been married for 20 years this past May.

I have worked for the federal government for over 13 years as a secretary, accounting technician and disbursing technician working for IRS, ATF and Defense Finance. When I graduated high school I was interested in nursing, but chickened out. Took a 6 month course for secretarial stuff and the rest is history. Several years ago, I looked into medical programs again, but could not afford to quit my job and then I had kids after 15 years of marriage so that also put school on hold. In that time, my husband finished his BA in Business/Accounting so now it is my turn. Will be quitting my job soon to stay home with the kids and keep going to school.

Just started my 1st semester on Monday and I am taking Intro to Nursing, Heallth Assessment, Human Growth & Development and A&P I. I am excited about this semester and so far I think it shouldn't be too bad.

Good luck and welcome to all newcomers.

Hello all! My name is Ashley and I am 31. My hubby and I have been together for almost 10 years now, married for 4 of those years. We have a wonderful son who turns 3 in October. I have a degree in Business/Accounting and work as Director of Accounting for a non-profit foundation. I am also in my first semester of an ADN program (no BSN programs around here except a bridge program which I'll do next.)

I've wanted to go to nursing school for quite some time now. Accounting is okay, it pays the bills, but it's not something I see myself doing for years to come. I'm ready for a change! I was accepted in a nursing program about 5 years ago but couldn't do it because my husband is in the military and we had just gotten orders out of the area. We've moved three times since then but now we are finally settled in one spot for awhile. Now's my chance!!!
