Getting to know you

Hi everyone. I know there have been quite a few new posters in the last while. I though it would be great to have a little introduction thread. Give us all a chance to say a little about ourselves and what has brought us to nursing. Well I am 37 years on the earth. I have to lovely daughters who are 12 and 9. I am married for a second time to a wonderful man for our 4 year this past August 15th. I decided to persue nursing more than three years ago. I wanted to do it for years but it took a long time to get the nerve up. I have been going to school on and off for a couple of years. I took some of my highschool classes over again and I also had to take my GED as I quit school as a know it all teenager. I love school now and feel the time is right for me. I am so excited about starting on September 3. I am going for my Associates degree in Nursing. Good luck to everyone this year. May we all be successful. I know once school starts that my online time will be limited but I will try to keep up as best as I can.

Take care everyone!:)

ashley, all the best to you!

Hi everyone!

I guess I'm the baby of the group. ;) I'm 19, have been married for 2 1/2 years to my loving husband Paul, who is very supportive of my dreams and is very excited about me starting college. I too, was a high school drop out, and got my GED (with high scores!) when I was 16.

I have 2 children: my son Conner, 2 1/2, and daughter Skyla, who's almost 11 months old. I might be starting college September 23rd getting my pre-req's out the way. I just got the news yesterday that I will be being followed around for 3 days during what would be my first week of school by a writer and a photographer for the Associated Press because they are doing a story about the bonds between parents and children, and as a teen mom, I gues they decided I was interesting. No pressure, huh?

I expect my "2 year" Associate's degree to take closer to 4 years because of the pre-req's and also because I wil have a year of down time between applying and starting the actual nursing program. I'd like to someday get my Master's in nursing, but because I value time with my family, I'm not sure if I will decide to follow through on that.

My only concern is that I won't be smart enough, but I feel that this is what I really want to do with my life, and I enjoy helping people. If I can ace my AP classes, I think I'll do okay.

:D

What an interesting group we have here! :D

I've introduced myself before so I appologize if your sick of hearing from me :p

(I'm a youngin' too Swiftee) I'm Leslie, 21 yrs old, mom to Braidy who will be 2 in November...I'm currently working on my Associates, and have many (way too many $$$) plans for future education.

I'm a slave in an office to pay the bills :chuckle ok, I actually work in accounting/payroll and am the receptionist because they wouldn't want me to get bored on the job, lol. [note, I am currently at work ;)] yet here I am, what can I say, I'm a multitasker!

I am addicted to Allnurses, so you will see me here almost continuously, or until I have to crack the books on Monday

Hope to have RN by 2005 (Seems so far away). I love this forum.

I was accepted into the Fall 2002 nursing program at my college, but I forfeited my spot due to complications I experienced in my pregnancy. I am glad to say that I have been blessed to turn 5 months this past Thursday....:D . So I'm at the halfway mark....20 more weeks to go!!!!.....Whooohoooo!!!!!:roll I am taking Anatomy & Physiolology 2 this semester, at night, 2 time per week. I am very excited about A & P 2...I earned an A in A &P 1...it's such an interesting and intriguing course....lol. I do have intentions to apply again for the Fall 2003 program. Hopefully, I'll get in. :D . I guess that's about it. I love this board and all the support that goes on here.

So nice to know something about everybody. Despite age and background differences, what unites us is NURSING! We're a special breed, loving and wanting to help people. I'm 50(wow that's hard to say because I feel 30) and just started my 2yr. program to be an RN. I taught public school for 14 yrs. and had the good fortune to travel to Spain, France, Mexico and Costa Rica with that profession. Now I'm so excited about my second career-nursing. I've been married for 31 yrs., no children but 5 dogs(1 bi-color German Shepherd and 4 mutts). Moved from Va. to California when I was first married due to husband being in the Navy so we got to travel across country twice. That helps me to know a little bit about some of the states you all live in. We've been back in Va. since 1974. Good luck to everyone Monday!
