Are CNA's considered "Nurses"?
DESIDERATA "Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and ignorant, they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself."..... No, CNA's/MA's are not nurses. LPN's/RN's are nurses. Doctors in medical offices are ultimately responsible for the actions of their unlicensed personnel. Many duties, not all, that are performed by CNA's, MA's, LPN's, RN's are legally the same. Unlicensed personnel who call themselves nurses and nurses who bash other professionals are operating from the same corner, "low self-esteem". Unfortunately, in our society has evolved to a point where we use titles to define who we are; instead of us realizing we are are all people, with different interests, skills, abilities, advantages and disadvantages. Sorry this is so long, just had to add my two cents.

Assingment under protest
It is amazing to me that hospitals would rather receive "crates" of these forms, risk lawsuits, pay out money for agency and traveling nurses; rather than just correct the problems and be done with it. At that risk of getting blasted by some; my sons told me that if women ran this country, we would have a lot less problems. I raised 'em right. lol

Do you like Agency/ staffing Nursing and would you switch back to being on staff
Brownie: I didn't read your post; so I don't really have any comment about that. But, I have read many other posts of yours and you always are very knowledgeable(sp) and helpful. I hope you are not leaving allnurses.

Mayonnaise treatment for lice
Mayonnaise and oils work; because they suffocate the lice. I had a girl whose mom had the same problem with repeated infestation. The problem is that the lice are becoming resistent to the lice shampoos the same way bacteria are becoming resistent to antibiotics.

"Babywise!" Help! Friend swears by it.
Figaro's Mom: Unbelievable. I have not heard of this book or this method of parenting; but I want to thank you for sharing this. I will be sure to tell all my moms to avoid it.

Doula AND nursing student?
srose: I agree with Natalieboo. I'm a doula, full-time Maternal/Child Health Specialist and Part-time Nursing student. Being a doula is great and would be good experience if you are considering OB Nursing and/or Midwife. To become a certified doula, though you need to attend a certain # of births. That would be difficult being in nursing school, even part-time; you wouldn't want to miss classes to attend a delivery. I don't have any private doula clients, because I attend deliveries for my job and wouldn't be able to miss work to attend outside deliveries. Doula first, nursing school later? Good luck.

Eat, sleep, breathe nursing program???
Leslie_23, Yes, I have also heard "eat, sleep and breathe nursing"; and I'm looking forward to doing that. I also am starting school on the 26th; and have already started studying. I have subscribed to more nursing journals and I visit all.nurses.com everyday. I hope that I don't burn out quick by doing this. I basically believe that its important to have balance in your life and that is something that I have struggled with for a long time. I started my prereqs for RN in 2000 though and left; because the rest of my life was consuming me. I couldn't be as dedicated as I needed to be to nursing. Now though, I feel more involved. Good Luck.
