  1. What is your class currently working on?

OB rotation this time. Lots of fun! The next test in lecture is on Labor & Delivery. Clinical varies from week to week. We are rotating through antepartum, postpartum, newborn nursery, labor & delivery, and triage. Last week I was in the...
  2. introductions

My name is Ashley and I am 32 with a 3 year old son, a husband and a full-time job (at least for one more semester). I will graduate next summer which is so hard to believe! My next semester starts in another week or so and after having half the su...
  3. Do Yall Think You Were Robbed of...

I am a 31 year old wife, mother, accountant and nursing student. Whew. Sounds like a lot but, for me, it is really quite manageable. I don't feel overworked or stressed and my grades are great. But everyone is different. School comes easier for...
  4. Getting my feet wet...

    Good luck with those checkoffs!
  5. Just curious what margin of error your program allowed for the vital signs checkoff. We were told 2 bpm pulse & respirations and 4 mm Hg for BP. What they really meant was plus or minus 1 for pulse/resp. and plus or minus 2 BP, they just wrote ...
  6. We lost two students today....

Last semester in Pharmacology, we had to pass the test with a 90% or better with one re-try. We lost a few people to that. This semester, we have a quiz every week in lab and also in theory (even when we also have an exam the same day, ugh!) We ha...
  7. I work maybe 30-32 hours a week, go to school full-time and have a husband and a 3 year old. It seems like I am one of the few in my class who works that much but I have among the highest grades in the class. It can be done successfully if you app...
  8. Need SEROIUS help!

Focus, relax and do your best. You KNOW you have it in you to pass the test so think positive. Good luck!!!
  9. Question about Accreditation

If your school is approved by your state Board of Nursing, you can sit for the NCLEX. As for admission to higher level programs, that probably just depends on which schools you'll apply to. My program is not NLN accredited (yet, but it's a work in ...
  10. USA - University of South Alabama

Paula, My UWF vs. USA opinion is based on something similar to what Larry said. They had a program but lost it and are now trying to get it going again but it is very chaotic. Not that PJC's program isn't. If you went through it, then surely you k...
  11. USA - University of South Alabama

I will probably go there for the bridge RN to BSN program after I finish the ADN program I'm currently enrolled in. UWF also has a similar program so that is another possibility for me but I think USA has a better reputation. I'd be curious to hea...
  12. How you lost any classesmates in this semester?

We started the semester with 80 and are now down to 70. Our program requires that you pass the Dosages & Solutions test with a 90% (and only one chance to re-test on it) so I suspect that is how we lost the vast majority.
  13. Books

I use the Davis Drug Guide also. It seems to be thorough and easy to use.
  14. does anyone care to recommend a less costly alternative to the Littman stethoscope? Every thread I can find on stethoscopes seems to repeatedly mention Littman (which should tell me something!) but I'm not sure I'm willing to spend that kind of mone...
  15. I think I got in! (more)

Some of the local hospitals in my area offer scholarships if you agree to work for them after graduation. That might be something you could investigate. Best of luck to you!
