Getting Flack For Not Getting Covid Vaccine

I am trying to feel out if anyone else has declined the Covid vaccine and feeling backlash or tension with other co-workers? I have never heard so much discussion regarding nurse receiving or declining a vaccine in the 12 years I've been a nurse. Not sure why it should even matter but, I am getting a lot of pressure about it. I do not see why I am "crazy " if I made the decision against receiving the vaccine. I also do not understand co-workers pushing the vaccine on me and others, or insisting we are out of our minds.  This is coming from management level as well as staff nurses. I am just appalled at the treatment and many of us who have declined the vaccine have kept to ourselves. For me, personally, I made the choice not to get it and I was done at that. It's been a month into our hospital vaccines and people will not just shut up about it.

Is anyone else experiencing anything like this?

How are you handing this?

Please mind the poor spelling and grammar ?

I am educated, thank you.  And I'm one of the RN's (along with doctors I know and other nurses I know) refusing these experimental vaccines.  We don't know the long-term impact, and will not for some time.  My point of view is not based on a lack of education or ignorance.

Furthermore, since the vaccine DOES NOT prevent infection or transmission of the virus, please don't bring up it helps with herd immunity which (would matter if the vaccines did prevent transmission).

Thank you.

Just wondering how do you feel about Trump getting the vaccine on the sly with Melania and not saying anything until CPAC and quietly?

Ever wonder about how many more lies he may have misled you with?

One year later and covid is not less dangerous because of mutation, it's arguably more dangerous.

Not if it transmits as a mild illness which is the end game of vaccinations for this particular virus. Death rates are dropping even in the countries where the 3 variants are prevalent.  Let’s hope that continues.

I stand by my use of the term angst even with your provided definition. We’re just going to have to agree to disagree.

Seems right on brand for a couple of sociopathic narcissists.

You can use words as you prefer but we all understand better when the definitions are more or less uniform.

Yes, I hope that death rates continue to fall.  Yes, if the bulk of the variants cause milder illness that would be very good news.

Do you think that we are creating our own variants here in the USA?

Well said. I’m so tired of hearing that “more education” is needed to get people to get the vaccine. My sources include the CDC, NIH & the Moderna & Pfizer websites. I am educated & have made an informed decision!

Speaking for myself...my decision is based on my research from the CDC, NIH, and Moderna & Pfizer research, among others. My decision about the vaccine has nothing to do with anyone but myself & my own research.

Do you believe that the average vaccine refusal in this country is based in sound research and valid science? You know, the average Annie resident of the USA who doesn't really feel like the vaccines are safe or adequately tested...do those folks generally have good arguments against immunization, in your opinion?

If I recall we already have but don’t quote me on that. If we haven’t I suspect it’s only a matter of time.

My kid says that her new sequencer is not fully functional yet so she hasn't identified the exact variations that the university lab has found.  She is slightly embarrassed to be excited about the science and the part she gets to play in this testing and sequencing agenda. The math suggests that your suspicion is well founded, I think.

The vaccine side effects are gnarly. I'm not surprised people are declining it.

We are.  Just last week, I was reading about some mutations that are appearing in NY.  How those mutations persist and how susceptible they are to vaccines remains to be seen.  At this point, people are describing the variants in terms related to the particular mutations, but if those mutations spread and have an impact on how sick the virus makes people or its ability to get around the immune system (either reinfect people or infect vaccinated people), we might start talking about them in terms of a new strain.

I was one of those who had some side effects that took me out for a couple of days. Compared to what I've seen with patients who had the disease, I still think I got off easy. I wouldn't wish what I've seen on my worst enemy.
