I've been thinking about this for some time now, and i'm wondering if my mind will change once I actually get into nursing school!
Do any of you know what area you want to work in, and why? Has your mind changed since you started nursing school?
I'd love to hear your thoughts on this:)

He had Osteogenesis Imperfecta, and was born with 8 fractures. He should have lived, but started bleeding internally soon after birth and it ultimately damaged his organs.
I know I could relate to the parents well, and I want to do it to honor him, and hopefully help prevent this tragedy from happening to other parents and babies. I am sure I won't change my mind.

(((((Heidi))))) I am so sorry for your loss, words cannot begin to express...
I am mainly interested in OB/L&D and NICU. That's where my heart is.
What? Nobody wants to be an ostomy nurse?

I got into nursing because I watched too many Baby Stories on TLC and wanted to go into L&D. But after spending a few clinical days in L&D I realized that after one of the babies was born prematurely I found myself wanting to follow the baby to the NICU. I didn't care about the mother, I just kept thinking of the little baby.
Since I worked in RT years ago I think ICU/CCU I would like to specilize in Cardio-Pulmonary Loved NICU years ago but not sure if I could stand the crying. I have always liked ER too and since I worked as a CNA for Hospice for 4 years feel that I could do that for a few years. Wow I guess I just don't know huh

Heidi so sorry for your loss, you are in my prayers dear !!!!
I will be graduating in December, and I already have a job for the NICU. I didn't think I would ever want to do NICU, until I shadowed a nurse there and fell in love with those sweet innocent little babies. I am GUNG HO now....can't wait to graduate!! Most hospitals will let you shadow if you ask, then you could try out a few areas. But you are right, clinicals will take you through a little bit of everything, and you will change your mind a bunch before deciding!! Good LUCK!
