Hey everyone,

I dont under stand why its so hard to get a job these days:confused:. There are sooo many job posting on the hospitals website. I think the nurse recruiters are being very selective of who they pick. Anyways, hope everyone else has a better luck finding a nursing job.:D

The economy sucks.....there are nurses that were stay at home moms that returned to the bedside, schools churning out nurses larger than the market. For profit organizations buying hospitals and posting jobs they have NO intention of filling and the importation of forgein nurses........search the site this has been debated many times......

The Nursing 'shortage' is a myth of sorts. There is a shortage of EXPERIENCED Nurses within some fields, but not for NEW Nurses. It takes time to train, orient, and get a new graduate up to speed.

Sometimes they have to legally "post" a job as being available, when they already have someone within the hospital system who wants that particular job. My hospital does this; they will post a job opening, knowing full-well that another existing employee is going to slide right into that position. I do know that experienced RN's in my area get the jobs over new grads, and that most of the hospitals here do not hire LPN's. Most of the nursing homes do, tho.

Right, it is really hard to get a job this days. I graduated 8 months ago but 'til now i don't have a job. Job hiring required at least 1 year experienced....but how can i have experience if no body hire me???... I'm frustrated.:(

I've got the experience backing me up and I can't figure this one out either. You might not have enough experience, or you might have too much. Part of it is 'keywords' in your resume. If they aren't there - the computer kicks it out. Taylor your resume directly towards the ad you're applying for and hopefully that will get your foot in the door. I just had an interview this morning that seemed to go well. Just keep plugging away at it.

Thanks & good luck to you....... :)

I honestly think there is just an oversupply of nurses. Hospitals also seem to post more jobs than they are actively hiring for. Persistence and improving your nursing skills should eventually pay off in a job offer.

it is simply a supply and demand, the nursing pool is just too full right now and is getting fuller after every graduation cycle. it drives pay and opportunities down for everyone.

Because almost every unemployed is told to go into nursing.
