changing patients sheets and cleaning the bedside... LOVE clean beds, and clean patients.

Specializes in maternal child, public/community health.

I work in home visitation with pregnant and parenting teens. What I love most is teaching and seeing that it makes a difference in the mom and baby's life. When the mom who went into preterm labor calls the doc because we talked about it and she carries to term, it makes my day (or week). I had a mom who was discharged several months previously call to tell me she was still nursing her 18 month old and I remembered all the challenges she had in the beginning and it made me smile. That is what nursing is about - making the difference for our patients regardless of what type of nursing we do.

I wish more med-surg nurses were like you. All nurses love clean beds and clean patients but, uh, not all love the effort that goes into it. I get a total mental block if the room is messy and cluttered. If it is prudent to do so, I clean the area before I proceed with whatever I needed to do.

Rolling the patients down to the car on day of discharge...
