I think I'll go with the person who told me that sometimes in hospice care couples with a dying spouse request privacy for "one last time" That had never occurred to me, but I'm not a hospice nurse. It really changed my outlook as well as being so touching and tear-inducing.
What I tend to remember are the funny things people say like the one who talked about practicing injections on a "mechanical butt".
"I am ending this conversation because you're being belligerent."
"Do you have any solutions to the complaints you constantly bring up?"
"Did you just say the nurses are stupid, sir? If you really know what you were doing, feel free to take the patient home and provide the care by yourself."
