Nails? Again?

Are you looking for support for a policy banning gel polish in a healthcare facility that you're writing, or are you yet another person outraged that you can't wear gel polish to work? If the latter, why don't you ask your employer for the evidence supporting their policy? There are multiple older threads here discussing the infection concerns related to nail polish and gel polish. You can use the "search" function to find them. The outraged people are never happy or satisfied with the answers they get. In the end, it doesn't really matter; if a facility has a policy that forbids gel polish, one's options are to abide by the employer's policy or find someplace else to work. In a perfect world, every policy regarding personal appearance and dress code at work would have some solid scientific evidence supporting it, but employers aren't required to have scientific support for their policies, as long as they treat employees equally and aren't violating any state or Federal equal opportunity or employment law.

I solve the nail polish at work problem by just painting the toenails. They've yet to make an appearance from under their compression stockings.

Back in my pre-recovery days when I was full of righteous indignation I wanted to know WHY I COULD WEAR ACRYLICS when I worked. Now I have read the research and just play by the rules. I like my job and the people I work for - some of their policies are a bit wacky but I just go-along to get along. I do get regular manicures and pay $5.00 extra for "Buffy Shiney" but that's about it.

Kidding aside, buff nails look a lot better than I imagined they would.

If I only did what was good for me I'd never let another chocolate éclair pass my lips. And THAT ain't gonna happen lol. But no, I don't support gel or acrylic or anything else that can create an entire biosphere of bacteria under my nails.
