Hey All,
I aM floored. I just received notice from GA Board of Nursing that they denied the endorsement of my MN RN license because I did not meet clinical practice requirements . When I called the board, they transferred me to a their Legal Nurse Consultant who stated that effective July 1, 2008 GA would no longer endorse RN license from Excelsior College students with no previous RN experience. She suggested that I go to my licensed state and work for a while then try again, but she could not give me a time frame.
Has anyone else experienced this. I thought we should at least have gotten some sort of notice/warning before this type of rule be adopted by the board. I am going to file a motion for reconsideration using an Attorney. Before I entered Excelsiors program I called GA Board to verify acceptance. I had been accepted to a traditional LPN to RN bridge program; I could have been almost finished their too. I am so sad right now. I have been crying for two days. I think I will need to see my doctor for Zoloft.
I have been an LPN for over 13 years doing Med/Surg for at least 10. I work on a hospital unit right now. THIS IS SO UNFAIR!!!:banghead:
Oh and one more thing while I'm fired up! I think the coment that there were no students at the meeting was unneccesary.......we can't all take off a couple of days each month to go sit at a meeting that our opinion doesn't even count at.......most of us work full time have families and other obligations.....hence the reason we chose EC!

I was under the impression that students wouldn't be allowed at this meeting anyway; but yeah, ditto what you said.
ugh after watching the fox news report I'm just that much more irritated! :angryfire I still have my CPNE application lying on my desk ready to send off but $1900 is a lot to spend when I may not even be able to be licensed! I have even been offered a management position in the department that I work as a clinical supervisor dependent upon my graduationMy director has been extremely supportive and patient up to this point but I'm beginning to wonder how long it will last.
I'm also up for supervisor "if this works out". Again, we EC students are all obviously a bunch of undereducated, poorly performing slackers compared to GA University System GRAD-U-ATES. Right. Give me a break.

Please , don't say that about yourself, even in jest. You guys are smart, well educated, diciplined, self-starters; real go-getters, and an asset to the nursing profession. Don't ever forget that!:nuke:
I am waiting for my clinical date, just as many others are. I was not surprised by the Boards Decision . I Spoke with my advisor at EC and was told that they are not finished with this issue yet! And that they had a letter faxed to the Board by Sunny Purdue stating that he wants EC endorced. They ask that we remain calm as possible and do not write letters to our congressmen right now, is what I was told today. This stubborn Georgia Board only wants to wait to get the law rewritten because they say their hands are tied. This is very unfortunate to the nurses of this state and the students waiting for our chance to work here. But, those of us who believe in the power of God! can not be moved by what we seen. Faith is what we must stand on , knowing that the outcome will be alright. They won this round but ,:bowingpurThe fight is not over YET!!!!:argue:

If this is true, then the Georgia BON MUST endorse Excelsior grads,. The board is appointed by the Governor and they are obligated to serve at HIS pleasure. In addition to this, the bill that the GA BON is citing as the reason for denying licensure to Excelsior grads does not specifically mention EC; the board made this decision arbitrarily without thought and with malice toward EC, ( in my opinion).
I also am a firm believer in the power of God, so keep praying and EXPECTING a successful resolution.
Has anyone seen this press release from Georgia's Governor Sonny Perdue?

Things are lookin' up!
